การรื้อฟื้น Talk-Talk-Vilion ในครั้งนี้จะเป็นไปไม่ได้ หากไม่มีการจัดวงเสวนาเพื่อการแลกเปลี่ยนกันในประเด็นต่างๆ Inappropriate BOOK CLUB ซึ่งเป็นชมรมอ่านหนังสือจัดตั้งโดย อารีแอน สุทธวงษ์, ลาร่า ฟาน เมเทอเรน, บารท์ วิซซิงค์ และสินา วิทยวิโรจน์ ได้เปิดพื้นที่ให้ผู้สนใจเรื่องราวเกี่ยวกับศิลปะและการเมืองมาถกเถียงกัน

ทุกวันนี้ศิลปะจะมีบทบาทอะไรได้ คำถามนี้ซึ่งเป็นจุดริเริ่มโครงการยังเป็นแก่นสำคัญในบทความ 8 เรื่องที่ทางผู้จัดได้คัดสรร แปลเป็นภาษาไทย และตีพิมพ์เป็นหนังสือ บทความดังกล่าวสำรวจถึงบทบาทของสถาบันทางศิลปะและความเชื่อมโยงกับระบอบอำนาจ ทั้งยังพิจารณาลักษณะของระบบศิลปะในปัจจุบันและผลกระทบต่อการสร้างความสามัคคีในหมู่ศิลปิน หรือตั้งคำถามว่า หรือบทบาทของศิลปินในฐานะผู้จัดงาน

ทุกวันเสาร์ inappropriate BOOK CLUB จะจัดงานเสวนาระหว่างผู้มาเข้าร่วมชมรมอ่านหนังสือ ผู้เขียนบทความ แลวิทยากรในแวดวงศิลปะและวิชาการในประเทศไทย มาเข้าร่วมฟังและแลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็นกันกับนักเขียน อาทิชองตัล มูฟฟ์, เยตส์ แม็คคี, เดวิด ฮ็อดจ์, ซาโลนี เมเธอร์, เว็น เยา และอื่นๆ

Talk-Talk-Vilion could not return for its second edition under the Bangkok Biennial umbrella without its share of public discussions. Our reading group, the inappropriate BOOK CLUB, is organised by Ariane Kupferman-Sutthavong, Lara van Meeteren, Bart Wissink and Sina Wittayawiroj and is open to all interested in lively debates about art and politics.

What can art do today? This question, which kickstarted the inappropriate BOOK CLUB, runs through all 8 texts that we have selected, translated into Thai and published as an edited book. These chapters look at art institutions and hegemony, the current shape of the art system and its effects on the potential for solidarity among artists or the figure of the artist-as-organiser among other themes.

Every Saturday the participants to the BOOK CLUB will discuss these texts, listen to presentations by the chapters’ authors about their ideas, and debate the relevance of these ideas for the Thai context. Come and join our sessions, from 3rd April to 22nd May, with Chantal Mouffe, Yates McKee, David Hodge, Saloni Mathur, wen yau and others.

Final edit before the last text is off to be translated into Thai! Our edited book ‘Common Dissent’ brings together texts on art and politics in a Gramscian framework which we will read and discuss during the Inappropriate BOOK CLUB in February and March 2021, part of Talk-Talk-Vilion and the Bangkok Biennial. Cannot wait to see what our co-organisers Speedy Grandma, Text and Title and untitled for film are preparing!!!

This program is part of Talk-Talk Villion 2020, a pavilion in the upcoming Bangkok Biennial 2020 that is organized and hosted by Speedy Grandma as well. This pavilion consists of 4 programs, including “We describe your anger” in collaboration with Text and Title, Untitled for Film, Inappropriate Book Club, and finally this Open Call. We're happy to announce that we will be back for the next Bangkok Biennial with The inappropriate BOOK CLUB, an art and activism workshop which we will organise together with Ariane Sutthavong as part of TalkTalkVilion 2020, generously supported by the Prince Claus Fund!!
