Have you heard of Tunisia? 🇹🇳 A country that is often overlooked by many travellers.

It’s a unique country located in North Africa, which has so much to offer from beautiful resorts, crystal clear ocean, sandy beaches, delicious Tunisian food, and many cultural and fun locations to explore such at the Star Wars film sets and Djerbahood.

I spent a week discovering the South of Tunisia, which gave me a taste of what the country is all about. I can’t wait to come back and explore more of this beautiful country ☺️

When travelling, I’m always conscious to give back to the locals, whether that’s staying at a homestay, eating at a local restaurant or giving my time.

During my travels in the Philippines I decided to spent some time volunteering at a local foundation who are supporting underprivileged families in Cebu. This was the most humbling and rewarding experience of my life 🥰

Do you want to volunteer abroad? But not sure where to start? Here’s are my top tips / things to know before you volunteer:

👉🏼 DO YOUR RESEARCH
Make sure you research the organisation very well. Ask the charity questions and make sure you understand what will be required of you.

👉🏼 UPDATE VACCINATIONS
Make sure you know what vaccinations are recommended and necessary for that particular area of the world. You should also keep up to date on local health advisories.

👉🏼 BE OPEN MINDED
Volunteering is not for everyone, and sometimes volunteers end up doing work they did not sign up for. It’s important to keep an open mind and to be open to the idea of working on additional tasks.

👉🏼 BE PREPARED TO WORK
Volunteering abroad is not a holiday. Embrace the volunteer culture and recognise that you are there to make a difference!

Rise Above Foundation Cebu are always in need of donations to help them support the kids from the slums. They provide them with the basic needs like rice and bread and any additional supplies, so if you are interested in donating to them, please send me a direct message and I will share more details with you 🙏🏼

I’m planning to go back to the foundation later this year, so if you’re keen to volunteer with me, then comment ‘VOLUNTEER’ in the comments and I will send you more details about how you can get involved ✨

I often get asked what do I love the most about travelling? One of the things that makes a destination very special for me is the PEOPLE I meet and engage with whilst on the road 🚌

There is something so special about interacting with locals whilst travelling, and the special bond you create between people without knowing each other’s language. Whether it’s just a simple and quick hello whilst roaming the streets, or spending time at a local restaurant or location and learning from others about their culture and ways of living.

During my time in Pakistan, that is exactly what I experienced; pure kindness from strangers, the biggest and warmest smiles, and incredible hospitality wherever I went.

As a solo female traveller I often subconsciously worry about my safety, but I try not let my fear or what the media portrays a destination to be, tell me where I should or should travel to. I was truly blown away by the hospitality by the locals in Pakistan, and I cannot wait to one day come back and explore more of this underrated country 🇵🇰

I finally made it to Taj Mahal; one of the Seven New Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site 🌍 This was such a ‘pinch me’ moment 🥺

The Taj Mahal was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal with construction starting in 1632 AD and completed in 1648 AD. It is considered a masterpiece of Mughal architecture and a symbol of India’s rich history.

Its white marble changes colours like a mood ring-soft pink at dawn, glowing white by day, and golden at dusk.

The intricate details, from the carvings to the semi-precious stone inlays, are jaw-dropping.

Tips for visiting Taj Mahal:

• Arrive as early as you can. I got there for 5:30am before sunrise

• Ticket price is 1,100 (£9.80 / $12.70) - you can book your tickets online to save time

• Bring only your phone and some water - the security is really strict, so if you bring a bag, it will take you longer to go through security and you’ll loose time

• Do not bring a tripod or drone

• As soon as you arrive, head to the South East or West side of Taj Mahal to get a chance to get the best photos without big crowds

• Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays - try avoid weekends as it can get very crowded

Is Taj Mahal on your bucket list of places to visit? 🙋🏻‍♀️
