desk, while her husband hands you tweezers to
fill your shopping cart with: Tom Yum-flavored
Lay’s chips, coconuts, milkshakes, baguettes, cans of local beer? Porcelain dishes and cups… Traditional Thai dishes are also on the menu here: pint-sized Pad Thais, skewers and a gorgeous mango sticky rice served on a banana leaf.
You can even pack your selections into
teensy little takeout boxes.

EGGPLANT SALAD

BENCHAKITTI
It is a 72-hectare park of impressive size and vegetation, located in the business district and built on the site of a former to***co factory. The concept behind it was to bring some of the forest into the city. It offers a space where residents can jog and walk, while its lush vegetation purifies the air. Basically, it’s Bangkok’s own Central Park.

TEOCHEW CEMETERY PARK
A “vibrant” cemetery that also serves as a park. Old Chinese tombs are arranged across the green lawns. Chinese people who want to live a long and healthy life come here to visit their ancestors and they also exercise here sometimes. In the old, cha-mesh-fenced gymnasium, old men pump iron as they stare at the TV up on the wall. Young people play basketball or practice taekwon-do on the courts. There are treadmills, a play-ground and even a karaoke club.

LUMPHINI
Take a morning walk in Lumpini and you might also encounter water monitor, strolling among the lakes like Tai Chi masters. And since there are supposedly a hundred of them here, I guarantee you’ll spot a few.

Forget the dusty exhibitions and historical artifacts for a moment. Here’s a must-see museum that reveals the heart of Thai culture, starting with the permanent exhibition, titled “What is Thainess?”

Here, humor and perspective play an important role. So big that it deserves a special exhibition.

This space hosts contemporary and quite astonishing pieces, such as a plastic bag filled with ice, a drink and a straw inside. Indeed, a Thai staple :)
