Sculpting, Painting, At Home

Home is many things to me. It is the surroundings of our house, our garden, our Doi Din Daeng pottery studio, our village in Chiang Rai, our country. Hypothetically saying, if we were overseas and wanted to return to our country – we would say we want to go home and similarly if we were away in other cities in Thailand, we would still say we want to go home. Thus home is a placewhere we spend our lives, where we truly live. It is also the root of our connections and relations, the food we consume, our immediate and surrounding environment.
Another perspective of home is ourselves, within our own minds, our own inner thoughts and feelings that shows and results in our work and our way of life.
Indispensably, I have used colors from ordinary nature to create my work. Various colors from soils were used to make pottery and paintings, to make clay and ceramic glaze. The raw materials has been used in a continuous cycle through out. I would like to call the “abstract” paintings in this series as “ordinary abstracts”.
All (materials) can be obtained from the land we live in, from “our home” thus this body of work is an extension of my pottery and my connection with the environment, my profession and the sustainable way of being self-reliant through the resources nature has provided.
