ชี้แนวทางเสริมสร้างความเข้มแข็งให้วิชาชีพสัตวแพทย์ในไทย

เบอริงเกอร์ อินเกลไฮม์ แอนิมอล เฮลท์ (ประเทศไทย) หนึ่งในผู้นำระดับโลกด้านสุขภาพสัตว์ เปิดผลการศึกษาเชิงลึก (Whitepaper) ในหัวข้อ “Going Beyond: สร้างอนาคตที่ยั่งยืนสำหรับสัตวแพทย์ในประเทศไทย”ชี้ให้เห็นถึงความท้าทายที่สัตวแพทย์ไทยต้องเผชิญ ทั้งความเครียดจากการทำงานหนัก ชั่วโมงงานที่ยาวนาน และการขาดการยอมรับด้านวิชาชีพสัตวแพทย์

ผลการศึกษาดังกล่าว รวบรวมข้อมูลจาก 6 ประเทศในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ โดยผลการศึกษานำเสนอประเด็นด้านสุขภาพจิตและการยอมรับวิชาชีพสัตวแพทย์ พร้อมข้อเสนอแนะแนวทางเพื่อเสริมสร้างความเข้มแข็งให้วงการสัตวแพทย์ในประเทศไทย พบว่า แม้สัตวแพทย์จะมีบทบาทสำคัญต่อการปกป้องสุขภาพสัตว์และสุขภาพอนามัยของประชาชน แต่สัตวแพทย์ในประเทศไทยต้องเผชิญแรงกดดันที่เพิ่มขึ้น ทั้งจากการขาดบุคลากรด้านสัตวแพทยศาสตร์ ต้นทุนการดำเนินงานที่สูง ชั่วโมงทำงานยาวนาน ความเข้าใจจากลูกค้าที่จำกัด และการได้รับการยอมรับที่ไม่เพียงพอ ปัจจัยเหล่านี้ส่งผลต่อความเครียดของสัตวแพทย์และกระทบต่อความยั่งยืนของวิชาชีพ

ผลการศึกษาสำคัญในประเทศไทย:
• 42% ของสัตวแพทย์รายงานว่าฐานลูกค้าที่ลดลงเป็นความท้าทายหลัก
• 70% ของสัตวแพทย์และเจ้าหน้าที่คลินิกระบุว่าลูกค้าไม่เข้าใจเรื่องสุขภาพสัตว์
• 74% ของสัตวแพทย์เผชิญปัญหาลูกค้าไม่เข้าใจค่ารักษาสัตว์เลี้ยง
• 58% ของสัตวแพทย์ทำงาน 50 ชั่วโมงหรือมากกว่าในหนึ่งสัปดาห์ ซึ่งสูงที่สุดในภูมิภาค
• มีเพียง 16% ที่รู้สึกว่าสังคมเข้าใจวิชาชีพของตนอย่างแท้จริง
• 64% เชื่อว่าการที่ลูกค้าเข้าใจงานของพวกเขามากขึ้น จะช่วยลดความเครียดในการทำงาน

อ.สพ.ญ.ดร.ม.ล.นฤดี เกษมสันต์ อดีตนายกสมาคมสัตวแพทย์ผู้ประกอบการบําบัดโรคสัตว์แห่งประเทศไทย ระบุว่า“โรงพยาบาลสัตว์หลายแห่งในประเทศไทยดำเนินงานในระบบสองกะ โดยแบ่งเป็นกะเช้าและกะเย็น กะละ 12 ชั่วโมง ส่งผลให้สัตวแพทย์มีวันทำงานไม่น้อยกว่า 12 ชั่วโมง ซึ่งก่อให้เกิดความตึงเครียดทั้งทางร่างกายและจิตใจ โดยเฉพาะเมื่อทำงานต่อเนื่องเป็นเวลานาน”

เภสัชกร อภิศักดิ์ คุณเวช Head of Animal Health บริษัท เบอริงเกอร์ อินเกลไฮม์ แอนิมอล เฮลท์ (ประเทศไทย) จำกัด กล่าวว่า “สัตวแพทย์มีบทบาทสำคัญต่อการขับเคลื่อนสังคมและเศรษฐกิจของประเทศไทย แต่กำลังเผชิญความเครียดและการขาดความเข้าใจในวิชาชีพในวงกว้าง เบอริงเกอร์ อินเกลไฮม์ แอนิมอล เฮลท์ จึงภูมิใจที่ได้ริเริ่มการจัดทำและเปิดตัวผลการศึกษาเชิงลึกครั้งแรกในประเทศไทย เพื่อยกย่องความทุ่มเทของสัตวแพทย์ สร้างการรับรู้ต่อความท้าทายด้านต่าง ๆ และส่งเสริมให้สัตวแพทย์ได้รับการสนับสนุนและมีความยั่งยืนทางวิชาชีพยิ่งขึ้น ทั้งนี้ ความสำเร็จดังกล่าวจะเกิดขึ้นไม่ได้เลยหากไม่ได้รับความร่วมมือจากทุกภาคส่วน ทั้งภาครัฐ สถาบันการศึกษา และภาคประชาชน เบอริงเกอร์ อินเกลไฮม์ แอนิมอล เฮลท์ จึงขอเป็นหนึ่งในฟันเฟืองเพื่อสร้างอนาคตที่แข็งแกร่งให้กับวิชาชีพสัตวแพทย์ในประเทศไทย”

ข้อเสนอแนะเพื่อยกระดับคุณภาพชีวิตของสัตวแพทย์ไทย:
จากผลการศึกษาเชิงลึกฉบับนี้ ได้สรุปข้อเสนอแนะแนวทางเพื่อส่งเสริมสุขภาพจิตและการยอมรับวิชาชีพสัตวแพทย์ พร้อมสร้างเครือข่ายสนับสนุนที่เข้มแข็งยิ่งขึ้น ดังนี้

• การศึกษาและสร้างความตระหนักรู้ในสาธารณะ – จัดแคมเปญเฉพาะกลุ่มผ่านสื่อสาธารณะและกิจกรรมของสถาบันการศึกษา เพื่อเพิ่มความเข้าใจของสาธารณชนต่อบทบาทของสัตวแพทย์
• การรักษาและพัฒนาบุคลากรสัตวแพทย์ – สนับสนุนค่าตอบแทน ผลประโยชน์ และเส้นทางการพัฒนาวิชาชีพที่ชัดเจน เพื่อดึงดูดและสร้างแรงบันดาลใจให้บุคลากร
• การสนับสนุนด้านสุขภาวะ – ให้สัตวแพทย์เข้าถึงบริการให้คำปรึกษา กลุ่มสนับสนุนเพื่อนร่วมอาชีพ และการฝึกอบรมสำหรับคลินิกสัตวแพทย์ด้านสุขภาพจิตและการจัดการความเครียด
• ด้านนโยบายและการส่งเสริมกฎหมาย – ร่วมมือกับรัฐบาลและองค์กรสัตวแพทย์เพื่อผลักดันโครงการ เช่น ประกันสัตว์เลี้ยงและการขยายบริการดูแลป้องกัน
• การยกย่องด้านวิชาชีพ – จัดตั้งรางวัลและโครงการยกย่องเพื่อเชิดชูผลงานของสัตวแพทย์ และสร้างการรับรู้ในวงกว้าง
• การเสริมสร้างเครือข่ายวิชาชีพ – ส่งเสริมความร่วมมือใกล้ชิดระหว่างสมาคมสัตวแพทย์ รัฐบาล และบริษัทเอกชน เพื่อเพิ่มเสียงสะท้อนของวิชาชีพให้กว้างไกลยิ่งขึ้น

ในฐานะผู้นำด้านสุขภาพสัตว์ เบอริงเกอร์ อินเกลไฮม์ แอนิมอล เฮลท์ ยังคงขับเคลื่อนโครงการต่าง ๆ เพื่อตอบสนองต่อความท้าทายของสัตวแพทย์และยกระดับมาตรฐานวิชาชีพในประเทศไทย ผลการศึกษาเชิงลึก “Going Beyond: สร้างอนาคตที่ยั่งยืนสำหรับสัตวแพทย์ในประเทศไทย” จึงเป็นอีกหนึ่งในหลายโครงการของบริษัทฯ ที่มุ่งเน้นแนวทางปฏิบัติที่สามารถนำไปใช้จริง เพื่อเสริมสร้างความเข้มแข็งให้สัตวแพทย์ ยกระดับวิชาชีพ และสนับสนุนการพัฒนาวิชาชีพสัตวแพทย์ในประเทศอย่างต่อเนื่อง.
