FIRST CUTS ARE THE DEEPEST has been officially selected for the International Competition at Doc Edge Film Festival 2026, where the film will have its World Premiere this June in Auckland.
Filmed over six years across different parts of Thailand, the documentary follows three children as they grow through friendship, loss, confusion, silence, and change during their childhood.
We’re deeply grateful to the children and families who allowed us to stay close to their lives over the years, and to everyone who helped the film slowly find its way, especially Docs by the Sea, Visions du Réel, GZDOC, THACCA, and all friends and collaborators who supported the project along the way.
This feels like the beginning of a new journey for the film, and we hope it will continue to meet audiences along the way.
