5 Earthquakes Strike Myanmar, Mandalay Suffers Most Damage

The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has reported that five earthquakes occurred near Mandalay, Myanmar, on March 28.

According to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, at 12:51:12 Myanmar Standard Time today, the Mandalay earthquake observatory recorded a very strong earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Mandalay and a depth of 10 kilometers.

As aftershocks, earthquakes measuring 7.5, 5.9, 4.7, and 4.9 on the Richter scale continued to occur between approximately 1:02 PM and 2:26 PM.

The very strong earthquake, measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale and the subsequent aftershocks caused some houses in Mandalay to collapse and suffer damage. The Mahamuni Pagoda's entrance arch, Mandalay University buildings, parts of the Mandalay Palace walls, and some buildings at the Masoeyein Dhammarakkhita Monastery were also damaged or collapsed.

A Mandalay resident said that they had to run downstairs from their building due to the prolonged shaking during the earthquake.

The old Sagaing Bridge also collapsed today due to the earthquake.

The earthquake also affected some major cities in Myanmar, as well as cities in Thailand along the earthquake fault line, including Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Mae Sot.

In Bangkok's Chatuchak district, a building under construction collapsed, and the Thai government has reported that at least 43 Myanmar workers may be trapped inside.

AAPP Reports Myanmar Military Junta Using Law as a Weapon to Oppress the Public

The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) has released a statement reporting that the military dictatorship continues to enforce laws dating back to the colonial era to oppress and control the people of Myanmar.

According to a report titled "Using Law as a Weapon" released today by AAPP, these laws are being wielded as weapons to systematically and continuously commit violence and human rights violations against the people of Myanmar.

The AAPP statement reveals that during the four years since the 2021 military coup, the military council has arrested and imprisoned over 28,000 political prisoners. Currently, more than 22,000 political prisoners remain in detention, and at least 2,019 political prisoners have died while in military custody.

"The military dictators are using unjust laws, interrogation centers, and prisons to create an atmosphere of fear to prevent the public from revolting against them. They are using these tools to torture and persecute revolutionaries," said Ko Bo Kyi, Joint Secretary of AAPP, in the statement.

The AAPP report emphasizes that revolutionary groups must establish and implement laws in their controlled territories, taking a people-centered approach that respects basic human rights.

AAPP also stated that the report could provide some assistance to ethnic armed organizations and revolutionary groups fighting against the military dictatorship in reviewing their current legal frameworks.

AAPP has been providing assistance to political prisoners and today, March 23, 2025, marks the 25th anniversary of its establishment.

ယနေ့အချိန်တွင် နိုင်ငံရေးအကျဉ်းသား ၂၂ဝဝဝ ကျော် ဖမ်းဆီးချုပ်နှောင် ထားဆဲ ဖြစ်ပြီး နိုင်ငံရေးအကျဉ်းသား အနည်းဆုံး ၂ဝ၁၉ ဦး မှာ စစ်အုပ်စု၏ ဖမ်းဆီးထိန်းသိမ်းမှုအောက် တွင် သေဆုံးခဲ့သည်။

“စစ်အာဏာရှင်တွေက မတရားတဲ့ဥပဒေတွေ၊ စစ်ကြောရေးစခန်းတွေ၊ အကျဉ်းထောင်တွေကို အသုံးချပြီး သူတို့ကို ပြည်သူလူထု မတော်လှန်ရဲအောင် အကြောက်တရားဝန်းကျင်ကို ဖန်တီးဖို့လုပ်ဆောင် နေကြတယ်၊ တော်လှန်သူတွေကို နှိပ်စက်ညှဉ်းပမ်းဖို့ အသုံးချနေကြတယ်” ဟု AAPP တွဲဘက်အတွင်းရေးမှူး ကိုဘိုကြည် ကထုတ်ပြန်ချက်တွင်ပြောကြားသည်။

တော်လှန်ရေးအဖွဲ့များသည် ၎င်းနယ်မြေဒေသများတွင် အသုံးပြုမည် ဥပဒေများသည် ဒေသခံပြည်သူကို ဗဟိုပြုပြီး အခြေခံလူ့အခွင့်အရေးကို လေးစားလိုက်နာသည့် ချဉ်းကပ်မှုဖြင့် ပြဋ္ဌာန်းကျင့်သုံးရန် အရေးကြီးကြောင်း AAPP ကအစီရင်ခံစာတွင်ဖော်ပြသည်။

Ganggaw Village Medical Clinic Airstrike Kills 11 Civilians

A medical clinic in Hsamkar village in northern Ganggaw Township, Magway Region, Myanmar, was attacked by a military council(SAC) jet fighter yesterday (March 22) at approximately 8:38 AM, resulting in the deaths of 11 civilians, according to the Yaw Alignment Group.

The airstrike killed 11 people, including a doctor and 3 family members, along with 8 patients who were at the clinic receiving medical treatment. An additional 6 people were injured in the attack.

"The airstrike occurred just after 8:30 in the morning. Since it was during clinic hours, we found 11 bodies of patients and the doctor's family in the clinic. We can't say for certain if there are more casualties. Among those killed were about 5 young children," said a resident.

The airstrike caused the medical clinic to burn down and destroyed many nearby residential homes.

According to the Yaw Alightment Group, airstrikes in the Yaw region during March 2025 have resulted in approximately 20 civilian deaths, including 4 civilians from Kan village, 1 civilian in an airstrike on Myittha Dam, 4 civilians in an airstrike on Thilinyar Township, and 11 civilians in the Hsamkar village airstrike.

မကွေးတိုင်း၊ ဂန့်ဂေါမြို့နယ် မြောက်ပိုင်း နှမ်းခါးကျေးရွာအတွင်းရှိ ဆေးပေးခန်းကို ယမန်နေ့ (မတ်လ ၂၂ ရက်နေ့) မနက် ၈ နာရီ ၃၈ မိနစ်ခန့်တွင် စစ်ကောင်စီတပ်မှ ဂျက်ဖိုက်တာတစ်စီးဖြင့် လေကြောင်းတိုက်ခိုက်မှုပြုလုပ်ခဲ့ပြီး အရပ်သား ၁၁ ဦး သေဆုံးခဲ့ကြောင်း ယောအလင်းတန်းအဖွဲ့မှသိရသည်။

ယင်းလေကြောင်းတိုက်ခိုက်မှုကြောင့် ဆေးပေးခန်းအတွင်း ဆေးဝါးကုသပေးနေသော ဆရာဝန်နှင့် မိသားစု ၃ ဦးအပါအဝင် ဆေးခန်းပြသူ ‌၈ ဦး စုစုပေါင်း ၁၁ ဦးသေဆုံးကာ ‌ ၆ ဦး ဒဏ်ရာရရှိခဲ့သည်။

"မနက်က ၈နာရီခွဲကျော်ကျော်လောက်မှာ လေကြောင်းနဲ့လာကြဲသွားတာ။ အချိန်က ဆေးခန်းပြတဲ့အချိန်ဆိုတော့ ဆေးခန်းထဲမှာရောက်နေတဲ့ လူနာတွေရော ဆရာဝန်မိသားစုရော စုစုပေါင်း ၁၁ လောင်း တွေ့ရပြီ။ ဒီထက်ပိုမပိုတော့ မပြောနိုင်သေးဘူး။ သေဆုံးသွားတဲ့အထဲမှာဆို ကလေးငယ် ၅ယောက်လောက်အထိပါနေတယ်ဗျာ"ဟု ဒေသခံတဦးကပြောသည်။

ယင်းလေကြောင်းတိုက်ခိုက်မှုကြောင့် ဆေးပေးခန်း မီးလောင်ပျက်စီးခဲ့ပြီး အနီးနားရှိ လူနေအိမ်အများအပြား ပြိုကျပျက်စီး ခဲ့သည်။

ယောဒေသတွင် ‌၂၀၂၅ ခုနှစ် မတ်လ တလအတွင်း လေကြောင်းတိုက်ခံရမှုကြောင့် ကန်ရွာမှ အရပ်သား ၄ ဦး၊ မြစ်သာဆည်ပေါ်လေကြောင်းတိုက်ခိုက်မှုတွင် အရပ်သား ၁ ဦး၊ ထီးလင်းမြို့နယ် လေကြောင်းတိုက်ခိုက်မှုတွင် အရပ်သား ၄ ဦးနှင့် နှမ်းခါးရွာလေကြောင်းတိုက်ခိုက်မှုတွင်အရပ်သား ၁၁ ဦး စုစုပေါင်းအရပ်သား ၂၀ ဦးခန့် သေဆုံးခဲ့ကြောင်း ယောအလင်းတန်းအဖွဲ့မှထုတ်ပြန်သည်။

Clashes in Katha District: 33 Myanmar Military Council Soldiers Killed

According to a statement from the National Unity Government's Military Region No. 1, 33 Military Council(SAC) soldiers were killed in clashes with the Military Council troops near Indaw Township in Katha District, Sagaing Region, Myanmar.

Local defense forces attacked a Military Council(SAC) troop column from Infantry Battalion 309 from Katha town on March 15 near Pinlut village at Pantaung Gyi and Pantaung Lay mountains.

In this battle, a combined force of EAOs (KIA), KPDF, Katha District Battalion-1, Motar Township PDF, and Katha Township PDF attacked the Military Council column of approximately 150 troops.

According to Military Region No. 1, the Military Council suffered 33 fatalities and 31 captures, with 54 weapons seized during the operation.

Two resistance fighters from the People's Defense Forces were killed in the battle.

ဌင်းတိုက်ပွဲတွင် ဗိုလ်မှူး လင်းထက် ဦးစီးပြီး ခမရ (၁၀၆၊ ၃၀၉)၊ ခလရ-၆ ပူးပေါင်းအင်အား (၁၅၀) ခန့်ပါသော စစ်ကြောင်းအား EAOs(KIA)၊ KPDF၊ ကသာခရိုင် တပ်ရင်း-၁၊ မိုးတားတိုက်နယ် ပကဖ နှင့် ကသာမြို့နယ် ပကဖ ပူးပေါင်းအဖွဲ့တို့က တိုက်ခိုက်ခဲ့သည်။

စစ်ကောင်စီဘက်မှ (၃၃) ဦး သေဆုံးပြီး (၃၁) ဦး ဖမ်းဆီးရမိကာ လက်နက် (၅၄) လက် သိမ်းဆည်းရရှိခဲ့ကြောင်း အမှတ် (၁) စစ်ဒေသကထုတ်ပြန်သည်။

ဌင်းတိုက်ပွဲတွင် ပြည်သူ့ကာကွယ်ရေးတပ်မတော်ဘက်မှ ရဲဘော် (၂) ဦး ကျဆုံးခဲ့သည်။
