Thailand's War Crimes Behind the Ceasefire
The human heart can be deceived, but the truth will eventually come to light. Today, the world must know of the cruel and inhumane acts that have occurred on Cambodian soil. We vehemently condemn the Thai government and its army for committing heinous war crimes.
A bitter tale unfolded immediately after the declaration of a ceasefire. Thai soldiers, dressed in black, approached our Khmer army, who were in camouflage uniforms, with friendly smiles and outstretched hands, feigning peace and friendship. They requested a group photograph with our Khmer troops as a symbol of their supposed amity. But that smile was a trap! As the camera captured the moment, the Thai forces, hidden behind them, suddenly raised their weapons and encircled our unsuspecting soldiers. Twenty Khmer heroes were taken captive. In that horrific moment, two Khmer heroes were shot dead on the spot. This was not a ceasefire; it was the most despicable act of betrayal, a severe violation of the laws of war and humanitarian ethics.
These savage and cruel acts are just part of many other violations of war laws committed by Thailand. They attacked civilian areas, such as pagodas and villages of innocent people. Furthermore, evidence also indicates the use of cluster bombs, weapons prohibited by international law. All these actions are unforgivable crimes.
We urgently appeal to the international community and the United Nations to launch an immediate investigation and exert pressure on the Thai government to take responsibility for these war crimes. Justice must prevail for Cambodia and for the souls of our fallen heroes.
This scar will forever remain etched in the consciousness of every generation of Khmer children. This bitter lesson teaches us that we must never trust Siam. We pay our respects to the spirits of the heroes who sacrificed their lives in this battle. Your sacrifices will never be in vain.
