It's derby weekend as Chiang Mai will be up against Maejo United at the municipal stadium.

Chiang Mai are still unbeaten this season in the league, although we've now had more draws than wins to date. Currently 3rd and 3 points off Phitsanulok in 1st place, a win will likely be needed to keep within touching distance, as Phitsanulok play bottom of the table Chattrakan City, who are still without a point, in another derby this weekend.

It has been a disappointing start for last seasons northern champions Maejo, down in 9th place and only picking up their first win last weekend against newcomers Phichit United, they'll be hoping to kick on from here and move up the table.

Last season both matches were played in Doi Saket and ended in draws, of the two matches the home one ended 1-1 and was our second biggest home attendance with 1,118 fans watching. The stadium should be much busier for this one, given that it's a derby, and Maejo fans are largely made up of Chiang Mai United fans.

Chiang Mai are away this weekend in Mae Sot.

This will be the last long distance away trip in the league this year, with away trips to Chiang Rai and Khelang to follow.

Both sides are still unbeaten this season, with two wins and two draws each and only goal difference separating the teams in 4th and 5th place, however after last week's win against Phitsanulok, Chiang Mai should be confident of beating anybody.

Mae Sot appear to be a much better side than last season, at the half way point last season they had 5 points from 11 matches, so far this season they have 8 points from 4 matches and have conceded only two goals, the joint best.

If anybody is going we'll see you there. I'd recommend and early start, as kick off is 3:30pm. This was one of my favourite trips last season, there were plenty of bars to go to, and there is also Rim Moei market on the border of Myanmar which is well worth a look.

Jetnipit P***a is recovering in hospital following Sunday's match, after coming on as a substitute in the 18th minute, he ended up leaving the field early after sustaining a fractured arm.
