We identified and found at least 30 remains of the Japanese soldiers at Bar Pa Lo village, Pae Khone township, Shan State. However, there were no head for all the 30 remains because by the time, when the Bar Pa Lo village wanted to fight against the Japanese soldiers to leave the village, they went to ask help from the English and as a trade, they had to agree to give the heads of those Japanese soldiers to the English. With this agreement, the villagers got the guns and weapons to fight back the soldiers of the Japanese. This story was told by a witness, 88 years old U Kali who was himself also part of the villagers to fight back against the Japanese soldiers. He is still a live until now. U Harn from the village told us that they had to take back and preserve all the remains in a secure way because these were once stolen by some villagers from the neighbor village last year. He told us that he organize praying ritual in Christine way for those Japanese soldiers who were killed once a year. He also put a symbol of Christ on the gate of the Cave where Japanese soldiers’ remains are located and every night, he put on the candle.

According to testimonies from elderly residents of Ho Wan Village, the cave was believed to have been used as a temporary camp by Japanese soldiers in the past. It was reported that dozens of Japanese soldiers had stayed inside the cave during that period.

A Japanese military officer reportedly ordered approximately 40 soldiers to leave the cave in order to search for food supplies and drinking water. When those soldiers reached the nearby fields, they were surrounded and attacked by armed local forces together with British soldiers. As a result of the attack, all of the Japanese soldiers were killed.

The Japanese military leaders who witnessed or heard about the incident from inside the cave decided to carry out a su***de explosion. Mines were installed around the entrance of the cave and detonated together with the remaining soldiers inside. This explosion caused the collapse of rocks and the destruction of Japanese military weapons and equipment inside the cave.

【Reports 】
Numerous remains believed to be former Japanese troops have been discovered in a cave on the side of Pantaik in Ho Wong, located on the provincial border of Shan State and Karen Ni (Kayah) provinc There are testimonies from local elders who remember those times, and it seems to be indisputable. That's a huge accomplishment in terms of numbers.
The whole world is in war mode now. Myanmar is also in the middle of war, but we are continuing our remains investigation/collecting efforts to settle the previous war.
