ARX: ARCHITECTURE ‧ REALITY ‧ XPERIMENTAL ขอเชิญชวนนักเรียน นิสิต และนักศึกษาที่กำลังศึกษาอยู่ ส่งผลงานการออกแบบพื้นที่ศาลาอเนกประสงค์ (pavilion) ภายใต้คอนเซ็ปต์ ‘Liminal Terminal: Transitioning something to anything’ หรือ ‘พื้นที่รอยต่อแห่งการปรับเปลี่ยนและตีความ’ ได้ตั้งแต่วันที่ 1 มิถุนายน - 31 สิงหาคม 2568 นี้

BOOK: Emptiness in Architecture by Philip Fung
ชวนสำรวจแนวความคิดในการสร้าง ‘ความว่างเปล่า’ ในงานสถาปัตยกรรม โดยสถาปนิกชาวฮ่องกงอย่าง Philip Fung ผู้เคยทำงานกับ Herzog & de Meuron โดยปัจจุบันเขาเป็นผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ในภาควิชาสถาปัตยกรรมศาสตร์ของมหาวิทยาลัยตงไห่ และเป็นกรรมการผู้ก่อตั้งบริษัทสถาปนิก Elsedesign ผ่านเนื้อหาภายในหนังสือที่แบ่งออกเป็น 6 หมวดอันมีแกนของความคิดที่แตกต่างกัน ได้แก่ Duality, Formless, Complexity, Livelihood, Ideology และปิดท้ายด้วยบท Reflection ที่จะเผยนิยามของ ‘ความว่างเปล่า’ ในฐานะพื้นที่อันเปิดโอกาสให้สิ่งอื่นๆ ได้เข้ามาเติมเต็มอย่างไม่จบสิ้น

An invitation to explore the concept of creating ‘emptiness’ in architecture by Hong Kong architect Philip Fung, who previously worked with Herzog & de Meuron. He is now an Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture at Tunghai University and a co-founding director of the architectural firm Elsedesign. The book is structured into six chapters: Duality, Formless, Complexity, Livelihood, Ideology, and finally, a Reflection, which reveals the definition of 'emptiness' as a space that endlessly allows creativity to fill it.

CALENDAR: ‘Tote & Tell’ - DCD Degree Show 2025
หลายคนน่าจะเคยเห็นคอนเทนต์ what’s in my bag ผ่านทางสื่อโซเชียลต่างๆ มาแล้วบ้าง ซึ่งในกระเป๋าของแต่ละคนล้วนเต็มไปด้วยสิ่งของที่จำเป็น รวมถึงสิ่งที่ชอบด้วยเช่นกัน
แล้วในกระเป๋าของน้องๆ นักศึกษาจากสาขา Digital Communication Design วิทยาลัยนานาชาติ มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากรล่ะ?
วันนี้เราจึงอยากเชิญชวนทุกคนมาร่วมหาคำตอบกันในนิทรรศการศิลปนิพนธ์ ‘Tote & Tell’ พื้นที่ที่ผู้คนมารวมตัวกันเพื่อแสดงสิ่งที่เป็นตัวแทนของพวกเขาอย่างแท้จริง ไม่ใช่แค่สถานที่สำหรับการซื้อขายสินค้าเท่านั้น แต่ยังเป็นพื้นที่สำหรับการเล่าเรื่อง ความคิดสร้างสรรค์ และการแสดงออกถึงตัวตนของพวกเขาอีกด้วย โดยชื่อของ Tote & Tell นั้นเปรียบเสมือนสัญลักษณ์ของผู้คนที่กำลัง ‘ถือ’ (tote) และ ‘แบ่งปัน’ (tell) ความหลงใหล งานฝีมือ และเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะตัวของพวกเขาอยู่นั่นเอง
ในนิทรรศการนี้จะนำเสนอศิลปะและการออกแบบที่บอกเล่าถึงความเป็นตัวตนของน้องๆ ผ่านหลากหลายรูปแบบ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นด้าน Branding & Product Design, Editorial & Illustration, Interactive Design, Animation & Short Film, Photography และ Installation & Illustration

IDIN Architects : Present • Perfect
NANA Coffee Roasters สาขา Central Westville จากบทสนทนากับเจ้าของโครงการที่บอกเล่าการเดินทางของแบรนด์ว่าเดินทางมาไกลจนเหมือนเจอแสงสว่างที่ปลายอุโมงค์ ถ้ำจึงกลายเป็นองค์ประกอบที่ถูกหยิบมาตีความเป็นงานออกแบบสถาปัตยกรรมเพื่อแก้ปัญหาพื้นที่อันมีขนาดเพียงแค่ 197 ตารางเมตร ให้มีความน่าสนใจมากขึ้น
ผนังกรุด้วยวีเนียร์หินสร้างภาพลักษณ์ภายนอกของอาคารเป็นดั่งหินก้อนยักษ์ ลวดลายของแผ่นหินที่ไม่เรียบเนียนสม่ำเสมอคล้ายหินธรรมชาติ ทำให้แสงเงาที่ตกกระทบลงผิวอาคารมีมิติมากขึ้น สเปซด้านในถูกคว้านออกให้ความรู้สึกเหมือนถ้ำที่มีโพรงหลายโพรงเชื่อมต่อกัน จุดเด่นของงานตกแต่งด้านในคือแผ่น HMR ที่ติดตั้งประกอบเป็นกริดแบบวาฟเฟิล พร้อมเว้นระยะห่างระหว่างแผ่นไม่เท่ากัน องค์ประกอบนี้ไม่ได้มีหน้าที่ทางโครงสร้าง แต่เป็นองค์ประกอบที่ใส่เข้ามาเพื่อเติมเต็มพื้นที่ negative space พร้อมขับเน้นให้เห็นสเปซแบบถ้ำได้อย่างตรึงตาและชัดเจนยิ่งขึ้น

At NANA Coffee Roasters Central Westville, the design is crafted to narrate the brand’s evolution. Early discussions revealed an analogy likening the company’s journey to traversing a tunnel and finally emerging into the light, prompting the design team to adopt a cave-inspired motif—an approach that transforms a compact 197-square-meter space into something far more engaging.
The exterior walls were covered with stone veneer, creating the exterior image of the building as giant rocks. The uneven pattern of the stone slabs, similar to natural. Within, the interior is sculpted to evoke a network of interconnected caverns. Central to the design is a waffle-grid installation fashioned from HMR boards. Although non-structural, this feature infills the negative space between the ‘cavern’ walls, emphasizing the sensation of being immersed in a rocky environment.
This edition of the art4d studio monograph seeks to provide an in-depth exploration of IDIN Architects' design philosophy, characterized by its straightforwardness and focus on the present, articulated through three core principles—simplicity, directness, and freedom from temporal constraints. The first is ‘In Design’, exploring the influence of interior spaces. Next is ‘Image’, reflecting the dialogue between architecture and its surrounding environment. And finally, ‘Narrative’, uncovering the deeper meanings and stories embedded within each work. Additionally, the monograph features an interview with Jeravej Hongsakul, the founder of IDIN Architects, discussing various topics including architectural principles, journey, and personal perspectives on life.

VIEWS: Serpentine Pavilion 2025 และจิตวิญญาณของซีกโลกใต้ที่หล่นหายไประหว่างทาง
‘Capsule in Time’ คือผลงาน Serpentine Pavilion 2025 ในปีล่าสุดจากสถาปนิกชาวบังกลาเทศอย่าง Marina Tabassum ที่ได้นำเรื่องราวของสถาปัตยกรรมในเอเชียใต้อย่าง Shamiana ที่มีลักษณะเป็นเต้นท์ผ้าชั่วคราวอันสะท้อนความเป็นชุมชนและการเป็นพื้นที่พลเมืองและสามารถชูจิตวิญญาณของสถาปัตยกรรมจากซีกโลกใต้ได้อย่างน่าสนใจ
แต่ด้วยข้อจำกัดบางประการ ดูเหมือนว่าแก่นหลักสำคัญของ ‘Capsule in Time’ ในด้านวัสดุและกระบวนการกลับตกหล่นหายไปและทำให้ความหมายของสถาปัตยกรรมชั่วคราวครั้งนี้ยังไม่ครบถ้วนสมบูรณ์อย่างที่ตั้งใจ..
ไกรพล ชัยเนตร จาก Alkhemist Architects ได้ชวนให้เราได้มองอีกมุมหนึ่งของ Serpentine Pavilion ที่ตัวมันเองนั้นก็กลับซ่อนนัยนะของภูมิศาสตร์การเมืองไว้ในตัว ทั้งข้อจำกัดของการนำเสนอสถาปัตยกรรมจากซีกโลกใต้ภายใต้กรอบการทำงานของซีกโลกเหนืออันนำไปสู่เรื่องราวของสถาปัตยกรรมที่ไม่สมบูรณ์ ทิศทางและบทบาทของ Serpentine Pavilion ที่เข้าสู่ช่วงเปลี่ยนผ่านในช่วงไม่กี่ปีให้หลัง ไปจนถึงว่าจะเป็นอย่างไร หากสถาปัตยกรรมหลังนี้ได้พูดขึ้นในภาษาของตัวมันเองอย่างเต็มที่

The Serpentine Pavilion 2025, titled 'Capsule in Time,' is the latest Serpentine Pavilion from Bangladeshi architect Marina Tabassum. In it, she references the Shamiana—a makeshift canopy commonly seen across South Asia that embodies community and public space, impressively showcasing the local spirit of South Asia and the essence of architecture from the Global South.
However, due to certain limitations, it seems the essence of 'Capsule in Time,' regarding its materials and processes, has been lost, leaving the meaning of this temporary architecture incomplete as intended.
Kraipol Jayanetra from Alkhemist Architects invites us to another perspective of the Serpentine Pavilion, which per se subtly carries geopolitical implications. Including the limitations of presenting architecture from the Global South within the framework of the Global North, leading to an incomplete architectural narrative, the changing direction and role of the Serpentine Pavilion in recent years. He also invites us to ask: what might have been, had the architecture been allowed to speak on its own terms?
The Serpentine Pavilion is being held from June 6 to October 26, 2025, at the Serpentine Galleries in London, England

เบื้องหลังการตัดสินผลงานที่เข้าร่วมการประกวดศิลปกรรมร่วมสมัยครบรอบ 36 ปีของศุภาลัย ในหัวข้อ ‘ทิวทัศน์แห่งชีวิต’ (Lifescape) มีผลงานประเภทประติมากรรมและจิตรกรรมเข้าร่วมส่งเข้าประกวดกว่า 375 ชิ้น โดยได้สะท้อนภาพความหลากหลายทางวัสดุ วิธีการ เทคนิค ประสบการณ์ทางความคิดของศิลปินและนักสร้างสรรค์
โดยครั้งนี้ได้มีการคัดเลือกและตัดสินผลงานต่างๆ โดยคณะกรรมการจากหลากหลายแวดวง ได้แก่ ศาสตราจารย์เกียรติคุณ ปรีชา เถาทอง ศิลปินแห่งชาติ สาขาทัศนศิลป์ (จิตรกรรม), คุณพีระพงษ์ ดวงแก้ว ศิลปินอาวุโสสาขาประติมากรรมร่วมสมัย, คุณสุริยะ อัมพันสิริรัตน์ ศิลปินศิลปาธร สาขาสถาปัตยกรรม และผู้ก่อตั้ง Walllasia, ผศ.ดร.วิชญ มุกดามณี รองอธิการบดีฝ่ายศิลปวัฒนธรรม มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร

DESIGN: AHEC นำเสนอนิทรรศการ ‘No.1 Common’ เพื่อสะท้อนความยั่งยืนผ่านวัสดุไม้เกรดธรรมดาที่เต็มไปด้วยศักยภาพ
American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) กลับมาอีกครั้งในงาน 3daysofdesign เทศกาลออกแบบประจำปีของเดนมาร์ก ที่โคเปนเฮเกน พร้อมนิทรรศการชื่อ ‘No.1 Common’ ซึ่งจัดแสดงในงาน Material Matters fair โดยเน้นการนำเสนอศักยภาพของไม้ No.1 Common ไม้เกรดที่ถูกมองว่า ‘ธรรมดา’ แต่เต็มไปด้วยความเป็นไปได้ที่ไม่ธรรมดา ทั้งในแง่ความสวยงามและการใช้งาน
นิทรรศการนี้ได้ 3 นักออกแบบมาร่วมตีความและสร้างสรรค์ผลงานจากไม้ No.1C ได้แก่ Andu Masebo, Daniel Schofield และ Anna Maria Øfstedal Eng ซึ่งผลงานแต่ละชิ้นล้วนยกระดับคุณค่าของไม้ที่เคยถูกมองข้ามให้กลับมาน่าสนใจอีกครั้ง ผ่านการออกแบบที่ทั้งตรงไปตรงมาและเปี่ยมด้วยแนวคิดใหม่

The American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) is back at 3daysofdesign, Denmark’s annual design festival in Copenhagen, with an exhibition titled ‘No.1 Common’, which will be on display at the Material Matters fair, showcasing the potential of No.1 Common, a grade often considered ‘cabinet grade’ but filled with extraordinary possibilities, both aesthetically and functionally.
The exhibition features three furniture designers who interpret and create works using No.1C wood: Andu Masebo, Daniel Schofield and Anna Maria Øfstedal Eng. Each piece re-elevates the value of wood that has been overlooked, through straightforward and innovative designs.

The time is almost up for ARCHIDEX 2025, a monumental exposition and academic forum dedicated to architecture, which will bring together architects, developers and industry professionals from across Asia to inspire, collaborate and rethink the future of architecture.
This year, it will be held in two locations: MITEC from July 21–24 and KLCC from July 23–26, as part of the annual KL Architecture Week in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Arak Animal Hospital Thonglor โดย IF (Integrated Field) คือบทพิสูจน์ว่า ‘โรงพยาบาลสัตว์’ ก็สามารถเป็นสถาปัตยกรรมที่เต็มไปด้วยความหมายและความรู้สึกได้ไม่ต่างจากโรงพยาบาลสำหรับคน ด้วยแนวคิด ‘โอบอุ้มและปกป้อง’ ที่นำเสนอสถาปัตยกรรมที่เข้าใจความรู้สึกของสิ่งมีชีวิตที่พูดไม่ได้.. หรือบางทีก็อาจจะพูดมากไปเลย ด้วยภาษาเฉพาะที่เหล่ามนุษย์อย่างเราไม่สามารถเข้าใจได้

Arak Animal Hospital Thonglor, designed by IF (Integrated Field), is proof that an ‘animal hospital’ can be an architecture full of meaning and feelings, identical to a hospital for humans. With the concept of ‘embracing and protecting,’ this building not only meets the functional requirements, but also understands the feelings of creatures who cannot speak (or sometimes speak too much, with a specific language that humans cannot understand).
The curves carved into the building create an architectural rhythm, yet also reduce the emotional distance between people, animals and space. Each interior space reflects a deep comprehension for diverse activities and behaviors, including vertical movement, observation, and consideration for the eye-level perspectives of companion animals. In order to nurture the feelings of dogs, cats and their owners who enter with a caring heart.
