If you're travelling to Thailand soon, there are a few important things to be aware of before you even get on the plane... and fly away 😉

You'll need to check current visa rules and passport requirements, make sure you've completed your arrival form, have proof of sufficient funds and onward travel. Last thing you want when you arrive after a long flight is issues at immigration.

Majority of people travelling to Thailand won't experience any issues. The videos you see online are usually a small percentage of people, making a lot of noise. Remember, there are around 35 - 40 million people flying into Thailand each year.

But, it's always best to be prepared, especially as rules and checks here change very quickly.

⚠️ Always check your official government website for the most up to date information.

💾 Save this for your trip, or share with your favourite travel buddy and let us know if you have any questions re travel to Thailand and we'll do our best to help ✌️

Happy Songkran from all of us at FV HQ! 💦

Songkran is one of the most important celebrations in Thailand, marking the traditional Thai New Year. It usually takes place over 3 days, although there are places where the celebrations last a little longer.

You'll see people carrying water guns, buckets and even hoses, what started as a gentle tradition of pouring water for blessings has turned into a country wide water fight... and yes, you absolutely will get soaked! 💦

Its a time for fresh starts, visiting temples, spending time with friends and family and lots of fun!

If you're in Fisherman's Village over the next few days and are hoping to visit a particular restaurant, bar or spa, please check their socials first as many close during this time. Our night market runs as usual this week.

We hope you have an amazing few days of celebrations! Stay safe, stay cool... and get soaked!!

If you’ve spent any time in Fisherman’s Village, you’ll know how much we love our dogs 🐾

The street dogs here are part of everyday life on the island. You’ll see them wandering through the village, sleeping in the shade, and being quietly looked after by kind locals and business owners who make sure they’re fed and safe.

But behind the scenes, there are also some incredible charities doing the hard work, treating injuries, running spaying and neutering programmes, and rehoming these animals, giving them a second chance.

One of those charities is Pariah Dog, and they’ve got a fun fundraiser coming up this week…

𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀𝘆 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗕𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗼 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 • 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹
📍 The Garden Bar Lamai

Expect music from the 1960s through to the 2000s, plenty of laughs, dancing, and some great prizes up for grabs.

There’s no entry fee, just grab your bingo cards on arrival (as many as you like), and all proceeds go towards supporting the amazing work Pariah Dog does here on the island.

If you love dogs as much as we do, it’s a great way to have a fun night out and support a really important cause.

Tipping in Thailand can be confusing if you're visiting for the first time.

Do you tip? How much? And when is it actually expected?

The good news, it's much more relaxed than in places like the UK or US. Tipping isn't mandatory, but it's always appreciated for good service, especially in tourist areas.

From restaurants and taxis to hotels and massages, these are the simple rules to help you feel confident when travelling around Koh Samui and beyond.

💾 Save this for your trip, and if you've got any questions about tipping, cash or payments in Thailand, drop them below and we'll help you out ✌️
