1001Tracklists Releases ‘A State Of Dance Music’ 2022 Report

1001Tracklists is back with their annual ‘A State of Dance Music’ report, which ranks the top elements in a multitude of electronic music categories for their performance last year – including top tracks, artists, and most-streamed sets.

Music is in everyone’s lives. Whether it’s going to and from work/school, having a night out, or simply accompanying one’s chores at home, there’s no doubt that music constantly has a presence in one way or another. Dance music is one of the genres with the largest audience these days, and this report is here to prove it. The platform, self-described as ‘the world’s leading DJ tracklist database’, works all year round to give its users the most extensive list of songs, sets, and playlists possible, covering festival sets faster than anyone out there. If you’ve been to a show and want to know the name of a song, it’s probably up in 1001Tracklists.

We’ve taken a look at the new report and condensed some of the most appealing data points worth sharing. Read on to learn more about some of the most significant dance music topics of last year.

1001Tracklists’ A State Of Dance Music 2022 Report: Key Factors

User Count
The number of people using the site’s services throughout the year accrued to over 7 million, and the total site visits struck at just shy of 65 million.

Top Genres
The most DJ supported tracks last year belong to Tech House (21%), followed by Dance (19%), and Trance and Bass House (11% each).

Top 10 Tracks
The most played tracks were ACRAZE’s ‘Do It To It’ in 1st place, James Hype & Miggy Dela Rosa’s ‘Ferrari’ in 2nd place, and Mau P’s ‘Drugs From Amsterdam’ in 3rd place.

Top 10 Labels
Labelswise, Spinnin’ Records takes the gold, Musical Freedom Records the silver, and Revealed Recordings gets the bronze. (edited)

The hottest feature of 1001Tracklists ranked as follows: In 1st place, we have Martin Garrix @ Mainstage, Ultra Music Festival Miami, with 59k views, behind him we have Fred again.. @ Boiler Room London, with 55.8k views, and behind him, we have Hardwell @ Mainstage, Ultra Music Festival Miami, with 41.4k views.

Top 10 Radioshows
The most streamed radioshows on the platform were Tiësto’s Club Life with 3.9k views per episode, followed by 1001Tracklists’ own Exclusive Mix with 2.8k views per episode, and after them, there’s Oliver Heldens’ Heldeep Radio and Armin van Buuren and Ruben de Ronde’s A State Of Trance with 2.6k views per episode each.

Top 10 Producers
The podium is occupied by David Guetta in 1st place, Vintage Culture in 2nd place, and Kryder in 3rd place.

Skrillex to perform in Thailand this weekend

Skrillex has already released two singles, 'Rumble' and 'Way Back', this year

Skrillex has been confirmed to return to Thailand this Saturday (January 20) at the ONYX in Bangkok.

Event promoter RETOX SESSIONS announced the event yesterday (January 15). In an Instagram post, the promoters shared that audiences can expect “loads of surprises and new music.”

Since the event’s announcement, a Facebook event page has been set-up for details on ticket prices and other important information. As of press time, no further announcements have been made. This is not the DJ’s first time in the country. In the past, Skrillex has performed at Bangkok’s 808 Festival in 2018 alongside Zedd and Calvin Harris.

Earlier this month, Skrillex released two new collaborations including ‘Rumble’ featuring Fred Again.. and Flowdan as well as ‘Way Back’ with PinkPantheress and Trippie Redd. The singles are supposedly a peek into an upcoming double album slated for release this year.

In May 2022, the artist confirmed that he was working on at least two albums via an Instagram post about his withdrawal from the Tampa Sunset and Detroit Movement festivals.

Last weekend, Skrillex, along with Fred again.. and Four Tet played a series of surprise shows in various venues in London. The trio also premiered songs featuring Missy Elliot and Beam during the pop up shows.

Bobby Brown, Pharrell Williams to Be Awarded at 2023 Urban One Honors

egendary singer Bobby Brown and producer/artist Pharrell Williams are among the 2023 Urban One Honors nominees.

Brown, a founding member of New Edition and a multi-platinum solo superstar, will receive the first-ever Phoenix Award for “his enduring spirit to rise despite great loss and hardship.”

A&E documented Brown’s decades-long career, emphasizing his personal and professional highs and lows, in Biography: Bobby Brown, a two-part feature film that debuted last spring.

Brown will rejoin his New Edition bandmates on the Legacy Tour, kicking off March 9, at Colonial Life Arena, in Columbia, South Carolina. Their upcoming tour follows 2022’s Culture Tour, which included special guests Charlie Wilson and Jodeci.

Pharrell will receive the Music Innovation Honor.

As one half of The Neptunes, Pharrell has extensive songwriting and production credits working with artists from all genres, mainly R&B, such as SWV, Total, Kelis, Usher, Mary J. Blige, Ray J and Mariah Carey, among others.

Pharrell branched off as a solo act, making the biggest splash in 2014 with his chart-topping hit “Happy” and its award-winning parent album Girl.

Staying current, Pharrell has recently collaborated behind the board with Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Lucky Daye, Snoh Aalegra, Pusha T and Omar Apollo, to name a few.

Elsewhere in the awards ceremony, Congresswoman Maxine Waters will be recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Honor, while L.L. Cool J will be presented with the Entertainment Icon Honor.

Tamela and David Mann will take home the Inspirational Impact Honor. Tamela spoke to Rated R&B about her last album, Overcomer, in August 2021.

T.I., Kool Moe Dee, Marvin Sapp, Keke Wyatt, Monie Love, Doug E. Fresh and DJ Spinderella are set to give musical performances.
