Government Spokesperson Jirayu Houngsub announced that the government has assigned seven cabinet ministers to visit 12 temporary shelters across four provinces this weekend, August 9–10, to gather firsthand information for the formulation of a second round of relief measures. The measures will address damages to homes, farmland, and livestock, and will later be submitted to the Cabinet for consideration.
The visits will cover Surin, Si Sa Ket, Buri Ram, and Ubon Ratchathani provinces, where the ministers are expected to meet over 30,000 affected residents, boost morale, and listen to their needs.
On Saturday, 9 August, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Jiraporn Sindhuprai will visit Surin Province, covering the Rajamangala University of Technology Isan (Surin Campus), Surindra Rajabhat University, Wat Sutthithamaram, and Surin School for the Deaf.
On Sunday, 10 August, six ministers will conduct site visits:
- Pongkawin Jungrungruangkit, Minister of Labour – Surin Province (Sikhoraphum Pisai School, Sikhoraphum Pisai Vocational School, Chom Phra Prachasarn School)
- Sorawong Thienthong, Minister of Tourism and Sports, and Manaporn Charoensri, Deputy Minister of Transport – Si Sa Ket Province (Wat Nakantam, Wat Khamsa-ard)
- Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, and Tewan Liptapanlop, Deputy Minister of Education – Buri Ram Province (Chang International Circuit)
- Theerarat Samrejvanich, Deputy Minister of Interior – Ubon Ratchathani Province (Wat Mek Noi and Muang Det Subdistrict Administrative Organization)
Mr. Jirayu reaffirmed that the government continues to closely monitor the situation, expediting assistance and ensuring coordination between central and local agencies for comprehensive and timely support. The ministers’ findings will form the basis for detailed second-phase relief measures to address damages to agriculture, livestock, and housing.
