What are you supposed to do when you visit your sister, who is nine months pregnant, and see her being treated like a maid? This happened to me while I was traveling for work and had to spend a few nights at my sister's place.

The very first evening, I saw her husband complain about dinner being cold and take his plate upstairs to game while he ate. Meanwhile, my exhausted sister cleaned, did laundry, took care of labor preparations, and painted the nursery alone.

I tried talking to her husband privately, suggesting he could at least do some dishes or put together furniture for the nursery.

"You are such a drama queen… Lily enjoys taking care of me, just like she will enjoy taking care of our kid. Don't bring your progressive stuff into my house. My wife simply does what she is supposed to."

"Dressed? For what?" asked Derek.

"Why, to go to your graduation, honey!" Gail replied.

"You're not going!" Derek told her coldly. "I've spent my entire life hiding you. Do you think I want you at the most important day of my life, showing your ugly face?"

Tears filled Gail's single eye. "Derek," she whispered, "How can you be so cruel?"

"Face it, Mom, you're a freak, OK?" Derek screamed. "I've been ashamed of you all my life. I've hired someone to take your place. Do you understand now?"

Gail turned deadly pale. She nodded. "Oh, my son," she whispered. "I'm so sorry..." But Derek had already turned his back and was out the door. Two weeks later, he left home and went to college in California.

"I'm having a baby!!" I started to scream, as a flight attendant rushed over to me.

The attendant quickly let the pilot know and he immediately connected with the nearest airport to request permission to land.

"Request denied," the dispatcher said, "due to oncoming storm."

Time was running out. In my feverish state, all I could manage was call out husband's name.

"Keep her stable for thirty more minutes," this pilot screamed to the attendant. "We are changing our route!"

The pilot steered the plane towards the direction of the only place where someone could help us.

But it was not an airport, and it was going to be rough.

I RETURNED HOME TO MY DAUGHTER SLEEPING IN THE BASEMENT UNDER STAIRS — MY MIL PAID FOR THIS SO MUCH.

I have two daughters: Tessa, 10, from my first marriage, and Sadie, 4, with my husband, Grant. My mom passed away recently, and Grant and I had to fly out for the funeral. It was rough. My MIL, Linda, offered to watch the girls while we were gone. So, of course, we agreed.

When we got home after three exhausting days, I noticed a faint light coming from the basement window. Weird. No one ever goes down there — it's musty and full of junk. I went to check it out, and as soon as I reached the bottom of the stairs, I froze.

I was the groom's childhood friend, and I was overjoyed to see him finally find happiness. His bride was walking down the aisle, and everything seemed like a fairytale: the stunning white dress, the long train, the flowers... But something felt off. Her walk seemed strange.
