🧐Why do you see “Yaksha” at Thai temples, landmarks and even at Suvarnabhumi Airport?

✨ Many visitors think these giant figures are scary. In fact, Yaksha are guardians protectors of sacred places and travelers.

📖 Origins
• The figures come from Thailand’s national epic, the Ramakien (adapted from India’s Ramayana).
• While some Yaksha are villains in the story, in sculpture they represent power, strength, and protection.

🛕 Yaksha at Wat Phra Kaew (Grand Palace)
• The temple in Bangkok is guarded by 12 giant statues.
• Each has unique colors, faces, and ornaments such as Tosakanth (Ravana) with ten faces and twenty arms, and Sahatsadecha with countless faces and eyes.
• They stand at the gates of the ordination hall, holding clubs to ward off evil spirits.

✈️ Yaksha at Suvarnabhumi Airport
• These giants are not only found at temples.
• Suvarnabhumi Airport also displays Yaksha statues to welcome international visitors and showcase Thai art.
• Symbolically, they also protect travelers on their journeys.

🎨 Artistic details
• Decorated with colorful mosaics, glass, and gold leaf,
• Bulging eyes, sharp fangs, tall crowns, and royal-style costumes.
• They are both masterpieces of Thai craftsmanship and spiritual symbols.

🙏 Fun facts & etiquette
• Feel free to take photos, but avoid climbing or touching the statues.
• At temples, dress respectfully and follow cultural guidelines.
• Next time you see a Yaksha at the Grand Palace or Suvarnabhumi Airport remember:
👉 You’re under the guardianship of Thailand’s mighty giants 💫

🚉 Hua Lamphong Railway Station, Bangkok

✨Hua Lamphong Station, officially known as Bangkok Railway Station, was opened in 1916. Designed by Italian architect Mario Tamagno in a Renaissance and Baroque style, it has been Thailand’s main railway hub for more than a century and remains a historical landmark in the heart of the city.

🌿Today, the State Railway of Thailand has shifted its main operations to the new Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal (Bang Sue Grand Station), a larger and more modern facility. As a result, Hua Lamphong is gradually being phased out, with plans for future redevelopment. Still, it holds a special place in the hearts of many who grew up with its timeless charm.
