🍴 Mor Mu D**g Restaurant, Phuket 🌴
A legendary local eatery awarded by the Michelin Guide for 7 consecutive years. Set right next to the mangroves, the atmosphere is rustic and authentically local not luxury, but truly charming. Signature dishes include turmeric grilled fish, spicy sour curry, and shrimp paste chili dip.
If you’re looking for authentic Phuket home style food, this is the place to go. You won’t be disappointed and it’s surprisingly affordable too!

Airbnb has revealed that Rawai Beach in Phuket, Thailand, has been ranked among the world’s top 10 trending destinations for food lovers in summer 2025. Travelers are increasingly seeking new culinary hotspots that offer local flavors, unique stays, authentic experiences, and an escape from the crowds of big cities all at accessible prices.

According to the Airbnb 2025 Summer Travel Trends report, tourists are shifting away from crowded capitals and instead exploring hidden gems and lesser-known spots. Why Hotels in Thailand Say “No Mangosteen” 🍈❌ (and “No Durian” Too!)

You’ve probably seen hotel signs saying “No Durian” that’s easy to understand. Durian’s strong smell can linger in rooms for days!

🚫 But what about mangosteen? Many tourists don’t know why hotels ban it too. The reason is simple: its deep purple juice can permanently stain beds, carpets, and furniture.

⚠️ So be careful! Don’t eat mangosteen in your room you could get fined!

🪷History of Khon

🇹🇭Khon is one of Thailand’s most refined performing arts, dating back to the Ayutthaya period. It combines various art forms including dance, music, literature, and craftsmanship. Performers wear elaborate masks and enact stories mainly from the Ramakien, Thailand’s version of the Indian epic Ramayana through graceful movements accompanied by traditional piphat music and narrations.

🪷Originally performed exclusively in the royal court, Khon later became accessible to the public. In 2018, it was inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, a great source of pride for Thailand.

🪷More Than a Roundabout… A Monument of Phuket’s History

⚔️If you travel to Phuket, you will almost certainly pass this roundabout and see the monument.
Yet many visitors may not realize who these two women are or why they are so important to Phuket’s past.

More than 200 years ago (1785), during the Nine Armies War, Burmese forces launched an invasion of Thalang the old name of Phuket. At that time, the governor had just passed away, leaving the town without strong leadership. In this moment of crisis, two sisters Chan (later honored as Thao Thep Kasattri) and Mook (Thao Sri Sunthon) rose to lead the defense.

They organized the villagers, devised clever strategies, and even disguised local women as male soldiers to make the Burmese believe they faced a larger army. Their determination and leadership inspired unity among the people of Thalang. Eventually, the Burmese were forced to retreat, unable to capture the island.

This victory secured Phuket as part of Thailand, and the sisters have since been remembered as the Heroines of Thalang.

Today, the monument you see at the main roundabout is not just a landmark. It stands as a tribute to two courageous women whose bravery and sacrifice changed the course of Phuket’s history.
