Title: Bubble Gum Love
(by AndiBecker Proms)

(You liked my story at 3:14)
(I counted one, two, secretly reopened)
(Pretended to be busy with math on my desk)

But really just refreshing till your name popped up...

Saw you by the gate with that pink gum again!

(Blowing bubbles bigger than your 'maybe' texts)
(Walked slowly—just to hear you laugh)

Then dropped my phone like a total klutz!

(Is that you?)
Nope! Just spam mail...
Now it’s true—
(My heart floated up then dropped!)

BUBBLE-POP LOVE SONG, sticky sweet and wrong!

(Bubblegum love, dreaming of you all night!)
You text “hey” and I type back three drafts long!
(The group chat is our dance floor~)
While chewing the same flavor in this teenage dream!
BUBBLE-POP LOVE SONG, can’t spit it out!
Every emoji’s screaming what our mouths won’t shout!
(Just one "meet me now," no more games...)
Before this gum loses its sugar… and fades away!

(You sent a voice note of our school's love song)
(I played it under my desk all day)

Deleted it fast when my bestie leaned over—
(But saved it again before she could see!)

I know your ringtone—
it’s that K-pop chorus!

(Heard it once and now it's stuck in my head...)

So I changed mine to match,
just in case you notice...

(Do you notice? Can you tell me?)

(Swipe left... so shy)
Swipe right? What if I fall?

Oh no!
(Oh no! / I'm dead!)
Now you know I saw it all!
(Now you know I saw it all!)

(What if I send "I like you"... and you don't reply?)

What if I say it first... and you just walk by?

(But our screens light up the same shade of blue...)
Maybe that’s enough… for me and you?

BUBBLE-POP LOVE SONG,
sticky sweet and TRUE!
(Bubblegum love,
this time I won't let go!)
No more drafts—
we’re sending what we’re feeling through!
Met by the lockers,
gum stuck on your sleeve...
(You turned around and everything became real!)
BUBBLE-POP LOVE SONG, finally OUT LOUD!
No more hiding in the cloud or in the crowd!
You took my hand and said “delete the rest”—
(Now every ping is a promise!)

First love sweet like...

BACKGROUND STORY

“Bubble Gum Love” was not born in a classroom or a foster home, but right behind our house in Phuket Old Town. Behind our old Portuguese-Chinese shophouse there’s a school whose bell is like a starting gun: every afternoon kids spill out, then drift straight into our little lane to skateboard, pick up a bass or keyboard at Phuket Proms, or just hang out on the steps scrolling their phones.

One day I watched a very specific “dance”: a boy leaning on his board, chewing pink gum, checking his phone every few seconds; a girl walking out with her friends, same pink gum, laughing too loudly, and glancing at her screen. Every so often—*pop*—a bubble; every so often, a “seen” or a tiny “hey” in the group chat. There were voice notes of love songs secretly replayed under the table, messages typed and erased three times, stories liked at 3:14 a.m. but never mentioned in real life. It was awkward, sweet, and absolutely universal.

“Bubble Gum Love” came from that scene. It’s a playful tribute to those little teenage dramas between the school gate and our doorstep: first crushes spoken in emojis instead of words, hearts racing at a notification sound, bubblegum, and K-pop hooks standing in for roses and poetry. That’s why the lyrics bounce between Thai and English, between chewing gum, chats, and lockers. Under all the fun, the song gently honors their world: their bubblegum love may be small and silly from the outside, but in that moment, it is real — and it deserves its own soundtrack.

Title: Phone Down
(by AndiBecker Proms)

Since you were three, we held your tiny hand,
Now you’re fourteen, a tall young man.
Today’s your day, your birthday sun,
But your eyes are on the screen, and the breakfast table’s empty, one by one.

Fourteen candles waiting, chairs around the table,
We saved a place for you as soon as we were able.
Hot tea getting colder, toast begins to dry,
Your phone keeps on glowing, but you don’t reply.

We’re not your enemies; we’re the ones who stayed,
When your world was shaking, we were not afraid.
You hear a thousand voices from a glowing frame,
But none of them were with you when the storm and sickness came.

Tawan, phone down, look up; this is your one life,
Game can wait, love can’t pause; don’t skip your real time.
We are the hearts that held you when you cried at night,
Phone down, look up, step into the light.

(Phone down, look up, this is your one life…)

You’ve got a bass in your hands; it can shake the room,
Make the windows tremble, make the grey hearts bloom.
But your fingers tap a screen ‘til the morning light,
While the ones who truly love you vanish from your sight.

Those names on your phone never walked you home,
Never cooked your dinner, never fixed your broken tone.
When your world was heavy, when you needed a friend,
We were there beside you; we will stay to the end.

Tawan, phone down, look up; this is your one life,
Game can wait, love can’t pause; don’t skip your real time.
We are the hearts that held you when you cried at night,
Phone down, look up, step into the light.

(Phone down, look up, this is your one life…)

We don’t want to steal your joy,
We just want our birthday boy.
Level up in real life too,
There’s a world out here for you.

Basslines waiting, songs to write,
Laughter in the morning light.
If you lose the ones who care,
All your highs will fade to air.

One day you’ll look back and see
Who stood by you constantly.
Not the gamers far away,
But the ones who stayed and prayed.

Tawan, phone down, look up; this is your one life,
Game can wait, love can’t pause; don’t skip your real time.

Phone down, look up; this is your one life,
(Phone down, look up, this is your one life…)

Game can wait; love’s right here tonight,
(Game can wait; love’s right here tonight…)

Don’t trade your heart for another high score,
(Don’t trade your heart for another high score…)

Come back home; we can love you more,
(Come back home; we can love you more…)

Phone down, look up; this is your one life,
Game can wait; love’s right here tonight.

Phone down, look up; this is your one life,
Game can wait; love’s right here tonight.

Ohhh, phone down, look up, Tawan, this is your one life,
Game can wait; love’s right here tonight.

Phone down, look up… this is your one life.

BACKGROUND STORY

On the morning of 24 November 2025, the house was ready before the birthday boy was.

The table in the narrow Portuguese-Chinese shophouse in Phuket Old Town was set early: tea steaming, bread toasted, little things prepared with love for a 14-year-old who has been “our boy” since he was three. His name is Tawan – “the sun” in Thai. For years he has been the light in a complicated family story: a foster grandson, not my son on paper, but the child who chose to stay with me even after his grandmother, my wife, passed away.

That morning, however, the sun did not rise.

The TV had been on late, the phone glowing long into the night. While we waited downstairs, the birthday breakfast slowly cooled. Candles still unlit, chairs still empty, screen still shining behind a closed bedroom door. After more than two hours, Tawan finally appeared – sleepy, half-present – and yes, we still had a good breakfast together. We laughed, we ate, and we celebrated. But something stayed in my chest like a stone: the feeling of standing in a room full of love while the person you prepared it for is locked in another world behind glass.

That is where “Phone Down, Look Up” comes from. It is not a scolding from an angry adult; it is a love letter from someone who has been there since the first nightmares, the first school days, the first bass notes. The song speaks to Tawan as “sun” and “son” at the same time: *the* light of the house, but in danger of forgetting where his real warmth comes from.

The lyrics remember who really stayed when sickness, storms, and broken hearts came – not the usernames in a game lobby, but the people who cooked, prayed, and waited at the breakfast table. The chorus is a plea and a warning wrapped together: “Game can wait, love can’t pause.” It is a call not only for Tawan but for every teenager staring into a glowing screen while real life, real love, and real time quietly pass by.

“Phone Down, Look Up” is my way of saying to him, “You have only one life. We are here. Don’t miss it.”

Title: Silent Rebel
(by AndiBecker Proms)
( Capo: 2 )

( A | C | D | A )

( A )
I sit in the shadow,
beneath the old town light,
( E )
My bass keeps me grounded,
through the silent night,
( D )
The world’s moving fast,
but I’m still in my lane,
( D/A )
This music's my heart,
it takes away the pain.

( A )
I play for the streets,
echoes down the line,
( E )
The rhythm of my soul,
is keeping perfect time,
( D )
A rebel with a sound,
in a town so small,
( D/A )
But this voice inside me,
gonna stand tall.

( A )
I’m a silent rebel,
With a song in my veins,
( E )
I keep playing on,
Through the joy and the rain,
( D )
No one can hear me,
But I’m singing it clear,
( D/A )
The bass is my voice,
And I’ll never disappear.

( A )
Under these old street lights,
dreams come alive,
( E )
A town full of whispers,
where the past survives,
( D )
With every note,
I find a piece of me,
( D/A )
This bass is my compass,
setting me free.

( A )
I play for the streets,
echoes down the line,
( E )
The rhythm of my soul,
is keeping perfect time,
( D )
A rebel with a sound,
in a town so small,
( D/A )
But this voice inside me,
gonna stand tall.

( A )
I’m a silent rebel,
With a song in my veins,
( E )
I keep playing on,
Through the joy and the rain,
( D )
No one can hear me,
But I’m singing it clear,
( D/A )
The bass is my voice,
And I’ll never disappear.

( A | E | D | A | E )

( D ) ( Tacet )
Through every street,
every alleyway,
( D)
I’ll play my song,
come what may,
( A )
In the heart of the city,
in the silence of night,
( E )
I’ll be the sound
that feels just right.

( A )
I’m a silent rebel,
With a song in my veins,
( E )
I keep playing on,
Through the joy and the rain,
( D )
No one can hear me,
But I’m singing it clear,
( D/A )
The bass is my voice,
And I’ll never disappear.

BACKGROUND STORY

On some evenings in Phuket Old Town, if you walk down a narrow soi lined with old Portuguese-Chinese houses, you might hear bass notes floating in the dark from nowhere and everywhere at once. The speaker sits in an upstairs office, connected by Bluetooth. The boy sits downstairs on the front step, half in the shadow of the doorway, half in the soft yellow glow of the streetlamp.

That boy is Tawan.

He has spent part of his life like many “lost children” in Thailand – passed between relatives, sent away to a school in the jungle he never chose, learning early that adults make decisions and kids are expected to adapt. The jungle school was beautiful and free in many ways, but he was sent there against his will. When he finally returned to the small shophouse in Old Town, the bass in his hands felt more like “home” than any building ever had.

Tawan grew up there from the age of three with a foreign “grandfather” – a farang who was never officially married to his Thai grandmother but who became family anyway. On paper, they do not belong to each other. In reality, they belong to each other more than most.

One late night, Andi looked down from the upstairs window and saw him: barefoot, sitting on the concrete edge, head slightly bowed, fingers moving over the strings. No show, no audience, no TikTok. Just a skinny teenager letting the bass say everything he could not explain in Thai or English about anger, confusion, and hope.

That picture became the seed of “Silent Rebel.” It is not a song about smashing windows or shouting slogans. It is about the quiet resistance of a boy who refuses to disappear, who chooses music over violence, rhythm over chaos. In a city of whispers, under fading streetlights, his rebellion is simply this: I will keep playing. I will not be mute. The bass is my voice, and I’m still here.

Title: Let me run free, let me be me
(by AndiBecker Proms)

They say I’m too loud, too fast,
so they give me pills to make it pass.
But my heart plays drums inside my chest,
and all it really wants… is room to rest.

( He said I was too mischievous, too young.
He gave me medicine to calm me down.
But my heart, like a drum, wouldn't stop beating. )

Let us run free… /

Let me run free, let me be me,
Don’t lock my heartbeat, don’t shrink my dream,
I’m not a problem, I’m possibility,
Plant me in freedom and you’ll see.

“Sit still, eyes front, keep your desk all clean,”
while my thoughts skateboard off the screen.
Homework lost again, bag a hurricane,
and every time something’s wrong, it’s “him” again.

Little white pill with a big long name,
“They say Ritalin will help you play the game.”
But my colors fade, my jokes go slow,
robot boy marching in a perfect row.

What if I learn while I’m climbing a tree?
What if the classroom is river and breeze?

Let me run free, let me be me,
In a school of freedom I can shine, you’ll see.

Gardens and mud all over our knees,
We fix old bikes and ride through the trees,
We juggle bright plates and diabolos in air,
Laugh when they drop, pick them up, we don’t care.

We play kim, guzheng, Thai flute in the wind,
Small kids on unicycles, big kids join in.
Mixed ages, one family, one long table,
No one here is “too much” or “not able”.

We learn by doing, we learn by song,

Let us run free, let us be we,
Hands in the soil, hearts in the beat,
When you see our chaos, you will see art,
This is how an ADHD heart beats.

Oops, I spilled the paint, now the dog is blue,
My homework’s drying on the bathroom roof, it’s true.
But give me my bass and count “one, two, three,”

I’m not lazy!
My brain just dances!
Don’t switch me off!
Switch the school, not the child!

BACKGROUND STORY

This song grew out of two strong impressions that collided in my heart on the same day.

The first was inside a boarding school and school in Southern Thailand. Among the children there was a boy who could not sit still. His feet tapped, his eyes wandered, and his hands were always in motion. In a typical classroom he would instantly be labeled “ADHD,” “problem,” or “too much.” Many children like him are given a little white pill with a long name and told it will help them “fit the system.” Their colors fade, their jokes slow down, and the wild music inside them is turned down to a safe, quiet volume.

Later that day I visited another place: an orphanage and “school in the jungle.” No concrete yard, no four-storey building. Just trees, open sky, a big garden, tools, drums, bicycles, unicycles, and space. Here the same kind of child was not a problem at all. He was the one who could climb fastest to pick fruit, fix a broken bike, keep the beat on a cajón or bass, and juggle plates and diabolos until everyone cheered. Learning happened in mud, music, teamwork, and projects, not in eight hours of sitting still. The chaos had rhythm. The “hyper” child suddenly made sense.

On the way home the chorus wrote itself: “Let me run free, let me be me… I’m not a problem; I'm a possibility.” The song is written in the voice of a child who knows what it feels like to be shamed for their energy, medicated into silence, and blamed whenever something goes wrong. But it also imagines what could happen if we changed the school instead of trying to “fix” the child: mixed ages, gardens, tools, art, music, movement—a community where different brains are not shut off but given the right space to shine.

“Let me run free, let me be me” is a plea and a promise. It pleads with adults, teachers, and parents: before you close the pill bottle on a child’s personality, ask whether the environment is the real problem. And it promises every restless, wonderful kid: your racing mind is not broken; it’s a drum that needs the right song. In the jungle school, and in every school that dares to change, that song can finally be heard.

Title: A Kid for the Wild
(by AndiBecker Proms)

Knee-high in clover, I traced the ants’ parade,
Watched monarchs stitch the sky with slow, bright thread.
Felt the soil breathe beneath my barefoot tread—
Dad frowned, "What’s gotten into this boy?" he said.
Mum just smiled, "Let him be,
He’s not lost—he’s found his key."

I learned the rabbit’s pause, the chipmunk’s dart,
Climbed oaks that whispered secrets to my palm.
Saw deer step soft through morning’s silver calm.
"He’s odd," Mum sighed. Dad shook his head, then laughed,
"Clear as rain—it’s plain to see:
That wildness lives inside of he."

I like the world the way it grows—
No plastic chair, no ceiling close!
Rivers run and mountains rise,
Grizzlies greet me with their eyes.
This ain’t strange—it’s how I’m made.
I’m a kid for the wild.

I’ve walked where roads refuse to go,
Where wind still owns the only door.
Felt fairness in the fox’s den,
In every root, in every hen.
But men came with paper, sharp and cold,
Redrew the lines, sold what can’t be sold.

I like the world the way it grows—
No plastic chair, no ceiling close!
Desert hares and eagle cries,
Truth lives deep in open skies.
This ain’t strange—it’s how I’m made.
I’m a kid for the wild.

They cut the pines. They paved the stream.
But the earth remembers every dream.
So when they tuck me in at night,
And whisper, "Sleep," with gentle light—
I’ll nod… but keep my promise true:
Save the green. Keep wild things new.

I like the world the way it grows—
No plastic chair, no ceiling close!
Mountains hum and oceans gleam,
Wild is more than just a dream.
This ain’t strange—it’s how we’re made.
Be a kid for the wild.

It’s just our style…
Be a kid… for the wild.

BACKGROUND STORY

“A Kid for the Wild” is actually an old song with a new heartbeat. I first wrote it more than 25 years ago, after one of the most formative journeys of my life: a six-week camping tour through the great National Parks of the western United States with 21 students aged 10–15. We squeezed into two minivans, cooked on camp stoves and slept in tents under the kind of sky you never forget.

We climbed to the top of Half Dome and hiked all the way down to Phantom Ranch in the Grand Canyon for an overnight tent stay. In Glacier National Park we crunched over ice and watched grizzlies with their cubs from a safe distance. We stood in the shadow of Mount St. Helens and on the steaming ground of Yellowstone. We scrambled through the Fiery Furnace in Arches, bounced along 4-wheel tracks in Monument Valley, and wound our way among the hoodoos of Bryce Canyon. A majestic thunderstorm rolled over us in Dinosaur National Monument. We camped with my Navajo friend John, slept in his tipi and watched our girls race the sunrise with his 12 year old daughter La Wuanta from her hogan where she celebrated entering womanhood. In Mesa Verde we learned to respect the first peoples of that land. At Zion we clung to the chains on Angel’s Landing and waded the cold waters of the Narrows. The route began in Las Vegas and the burning heat of Death Valley’s Devil’s Golf Course and ended, almost playfully, with Tijuana, Sea World, Disneyland and Universal Studios. Missionary families we had met in Heidelberg opened doors in Salt Lake City and Provo, hosting our whole group for several days and making the trip possible.

Out of that journey came the image in the song: a child who feels more at home with clover, rivers, foxes, and mountains than in plastic chairs and closed rooms; a child who senses fairness and balance in the wild long before adults explain it. That child was partly me and partly the students who discovered courage and peace in those landscapes.

When I recently visited the foster home and school where so many of these new songs were born, all those memories rushed back. Looking at children who spend every holiday inside the same compound, I caught myself dreaming: what if we could take them camping in Thailand’s own national parks? Our country has canyons, forests, and even volcanic areas waiting to be explored. “A Kid for the Wild” became a quiet invitation: these children, too, deserve nights under open skies, mornings with cold grass under bare feet, and the chance to learn that they are part of a living, beautiful world.

If this vision touches you, consider helping us make such journeys possible—so that the next generation of “kids for the wild” doesn’t only sing about freedom but actually walks in it. Please contact us!
