[ Notes from Koh Kood, July 7, 2026 ]
Over and over—again and again—the monsoon rain lashes against the leaves outside. It sounds like a clock ticking without a face. Dull, grey light bleeds through the old wooden window frame. The scent of damp timber mixed with the faint, clean draft from the air purifier humming quietly in the corner. It’s the smell of 'now'—the exact moment we are sharing in this house. A house that feels like it has its own breath, with enough space for memories to just drift and expand.
Look at him... Nalo, completely melted into the clear bowl of his cat condo, like he’s the absolute center of all this stillness. Those same eyes, staring right back at me. Light and shadow pooling across his white-and-grey fur. Everything about him is so calm, so unbothered, it makes me almost envious. Outside, the rain is pouring harder now, backed by the low moan of the ocean wind. But inside here, it’s completely still, warm, and safe.
If someday down the road... someday I actually sit down to write a book, this exact scene will probably be the first thing that flows out, without me even having to try. It’s buried too deep to ever forget. The rough, grainy texture of the wooden floorboards, the sudden chill on my skin when reaching out to open the window to the rainy wind, the smell of warm food in the evening. A slow-motion life just rolling along—working, eating, living, and just having him right here.
There's plenty of room for us to run around. Out there in the dense, green rainforest of Koh Kood, and right here inside this wooden house... a place that holds the two of us close, shutting out all the chaos of the world.
We really lived here once. Just me and Nalo. During a time when the clock moved so slowly it almost stopped, but the heart managed to capture every single detail anyway.
