Concept économique : La Dette Publique
La dette publique désigne l’ensemble des emprunts contractés par l’État pour financer ses dépenses lorsqu’il n’a pas suffisamment de recettes.
Elle est généralement exprimée en pourcentage du PIB et peut refléter soit une politique d’investissement, soit un déséquilibre structurel.
Pourquoi c’est important ?
Une dette maîtrisée peut soutenir la croissance à long terme. À l’inverse, une dette excessive peut freiner les investissements et peser sur les générations futures.
Quels sont les défis pour les pays comme la Tunisie face à l’endettement ?
Réduire les déficits sans freiner la croissance
Améliorer la gestion publique et la transparence budgétaire
Stimuler les recettes fiscales de manière équitable
Le ratio dette/PIB de la Tunisie dépasse aujourd’hui 80 %, ce qui soulève des interrogations sur la soutenabilité à long terme.

Concept économique du jour : Les inégalités économiques
Les inégalités économiques désignent les écarts dans la répartition des revenus, des richesses ou de l’accès à l’emploi. Elles constituent un enjeu majeur pour le développement durable et la cohésion sociale.
Elles peuvent être mesurées grâce à des indicateurs comme l’indice de Gini, qui varie de 0 (égalité parfaite) à 1 (inégalité totale). En Tunisie, selon les dernières données, l’indice de Gini est d’environ 0,39, révélant des disparités notables, notamment entre zones urbaines et rurales.
Ces inégalités ne sont pas uniquement économiques : elles peuvent être sociales, territoriales, ou encore éducatives. Comprendre leur origine est essentiel pour formuler des politiques publiques efficaces.

Economic Concept of the Week: Unemployment

What does it really mean to be unemployed?

Contrary to popular belief, not everyone without a job is officially considered "unemployed" in economic statistics. A person is only counted as unemployed if they are:
Without work
Actively looking for a job
Available to start work

There are multiple types of unemployment economists distinguish:
Frictional Unemployment – Short-term, often between two jobs.
Structural Unemployment – Due to a mismatch of skills or geographic location.
Cyclical (or Conjunctural) Unemployment – Caused by economic downturns.
In our latest Economika post, we break this down with definitions, examples, current stats (France 2020–2023), and the limits of official indicators (e.g., underemployment, discouraged workers).
