A bit more of Tunisian cuisine: today I had Jelbana, which is a pea stew, and Kamounia, a rich, hearty stew made with different types of meat, and of course, cumin (that actually gives the dish its name).

The chef, Moncef Mattousi, is incredible, this spot is a true hidden gem in the streets of Carthage Salambo. It’s so simple, yet it has the real taste. We had a conversation with Mr. Moncef, and he told me that he realized tourists coming to Tunisia don’t want the same international kitchen experience (yet very widespread in Tunis) — they actually want the authentic flavors of Tunisian cuisine, which is exactly what he offers.

The place has a daily menu written on a chalkboard and it changes every day. So good. Honestly, I couldn’t wish for more.
