With the 2026 World Cup starting in less than 4 weeks and as usual our 15 not announced yet (shayad USA ke squad ka wait kar rahe hain, Trump ustaad pindi bhejeinge), let's talk about the "Big Three" return (Babar, Shaheen, Haris) and why our current "best combination" is a statistical nightmare.
Math Isn’t Mathing...
Tonight, Wasim Jr. is missing a golden opportunity to stake his claim, but the real mess is in the top order. If the management forces Babar to play at 1-down (most likely), look at the domino effect:
Babar (at 3): Avg 43 | SR 125 ➡️ (Stable, but eats up the Powerplay intent).
Agha Salman (at 4): Avg 24 | SR 108 ➡️ (A waste of his attacking potential).
Fakhar Zaman (at 5): Avg 14 | SR 111 ➡️ (Basically asking to go out and strike from ball 1).
We are taking three players and sticking them where they statistically perform their worst. 🤦♂️
What If we actually used Data (Islu management would love this)
There is one guy whose replacement fixes the entire puzzle: Saim Ayub. Saim isn’t performing in internationals, he isn’t dominating the leagues, and there’s no sign he’s cementing that spot. By simply moving on from the "Saim Experiment," everything falls into place. Here is how.
Babar Opens: He averages 42 with a 132 SR as an opener. He’s doing it right now in the Big Bash. Performance phr bhi nahi honi lekin tanveer ahmed ka channel bhi tou grow karna hai.
Agha Salman at 3: He strikes at 150+ with a 35 average here. We saw tonight he can do on pitches where we are going to play against Bumrah (balke usko tou farhan sambhaal lega)
Fakhar at 4: He averages 25 with a 150 SR. Let him be the middle-order wrecker.
Instead of waiting for Shaheen to get fit, maybe the management should eye a calculator. You don't need a PhD in sports science to see that putting players in their best positions wins games.
What’s your take? > Do we keep "trusting the process" with Saim and a broken middle order, or is it time to let Babar open and play the numbers game? Data or "Dosti"? Let me know below!
P.S: Don’t say ke Nafay se open karwa dete hain 🙏
