🌿Rafail weaves baskets for the cheese he makes. Each fibre a memory, each motion a bridge between generations.

As he works, he thinks of those who taught him, of hands now gone but still present in the rhythm of his craft.

For him, it’s not just about keeping a tradition alive. It’s about belonging to a cycle, one that feeds both land and soul, and reminds us that what we inherit must also be passed on.

From the dry-stone mandras of to the ancestral orchards of , this episode weaves two stories of rootedness and return — guided by those who refuse to abandon the land that raised them.

🐄 On the island of Lemnos, Mediterranean Institute for Nature and Anthropos works alongside Athina Kavaleri and other local farmers to revive traditional agro-pastoral systems. Their efforts breathe new life into the mandra, an ancient farm structure that once nourished entire communities — now at risk of fading into silence.

🏡 In the hills of Hammana, Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon supports a young family’s return to their ancestral home, where they seek to transform displacement into renewal. Through eco-tourism, cultural revival and everyday care, they forge a new way forward — one that honours the past without being bound by it.

This is not just a story of survival. It’s a story of regeneration.
Of tending to place. Of choosing to stay.

Thank you ProFellow.com and Rowan Glass for your keen interest in my trajectory! I was really happy to share how I started and on how is it going now where I am at, the Wyss Academy for Nature🪴🫶🏽

“I have had numerous life-changing fellowships that have served my academic, professional, and personal growth. They have all surely been transformative because they played a big part in my existential quest: How can I serve humanity at my best? How can I become my most authentic self? Where to begin? What am I good at?”

Sincere thanks to all my mentors in this journey 🙂 and particularly Gary Martin Julie Zaehringer Alexander Schieffer Susan Thieme Rama Mani Stephan Rist

On the 2nd of December, an inaugural chapter of EthnoKino Festival unfolded in Berlin at the enchanting Lichtblick Kino, our cinematic host in the heart of the city. A tapestry of films, insightful Q&A sessions, visionary talks, and evocative concerts graced during this experience, which concluded on the 6th of December.

Berlin, a city pulsating with stories, culture, and arts, provided an exquisite backdrop for the resonance of diverse narratives.

Our collaboration with Lichtblick Kino, a local gem nestled in the district of Prenzlauer Berg with a dedicated focus on indie cinema, served as the perfect setting for our festival. Our curated selection delved into themes of the q***r community, the climate crisis, and indigenous rights — urgent and resonant topics that stirred a vibrant response from our engaged audience.

The cinema reverberated with the energy of impassioned discussions during Q&A sessions. The festive ambiance, complete with delicious foods, refreshing drinks, and soul-stirring music, enveloped the audience in an immersive journey.

💫 Wishing you all a happy new year and looking forward to our 2024 film festival edition Bern, Berlin, Mexico City, Punta Arenas, Istanbul and more :))
