Trailer: Gaziantep stuck, a very distinguished place in Anatolia's cultural assets, contributes to our country's cultural heritage.
The topic of this film is the yesemek outdoor museum located in the village of yesemek in islahiye, gaziantep. This museum is the only historical landmark in the historic stone furnaces in anatolia, which also has a rich sculpture workshop.
There are about 300 statues unearthed in the stone quarry, where the local people call the 'Statue Field', and there are artifacts that are still waiting to come out of the ground most of the day.
As part of the study, there are terraces, partially covered and destroyed statues under the ground, and terraces have been created in the area to ensure that visitors are comfortable with the outdoor museum. These stones, each weighing 1-10 tons, are located within 110 m2 area.
With the green work, the landscape has become more and more difficult.
About 14 km southeast of the islahiye district of gaziantep and about 40 km southeast of the chain, the importance of yesemek sculpture is the largest sculpture workshop in the east, as well as a rich quarry. The Yesemek Quarry and sculpture workshop is a field of approximately 300 x400 km.
Between 1958-1961 and 1958-1961 Dr... Bahadir Alkim and archaeologist prof in the ' 90 s. Dr... Rafiq Duru and his team were able to reach the light of 300 statues (Sphinx, lions and mountain Gods) in yesemek.
According to research, the January and workshop region was opened in the time of the hittite domination. The opening date is believed to be between 1375-1335 B.C. Besides there is approximately three hundred sculptures that were detected in the Yesemek Open Air Musem named as ‘Sculpture’s Field’ by local public and the sculptures have also waited underground to be revealed come to light.
At scope of excavation, the sculptures covered partly and ruined underground have been reconditioned and there made of terraces in the field of museum to supply toured by visitors comfortably.
The view of museum have been tinged by waterfalll made with greening works.
The importance of Yesemek Scupltural Workshop is located a distance of 14 km from the Southeast of Gaziantep’s İslahiye district and a distance of 40 km from the Southeast of Zincirli. It is the biggest stone quarry and scuplture workshop of the Old Recent East. Yesemek stone quarry and scuplture workshop are covered on almost 300x400 m sqm of land. 300 sculptures as sphinxes, lions, reliefs of the mountain god and statues in the round were revealed come to light. The works have been started between 1958 and 1961 by Professor Bahadır ALKIM and in 1990 by Archeologist Professeur Refik DURU and his group had also worked at the works of Yesemek Sculptural Workshop.
According to historical references, the worksite was opened by the Hittite Emperor. The date of inaugural is 1375-1335 B.C. The local Hur population had worked on stones from the quarry placed on 1 km west of the sculpture workshop. In this region, there was found that tha craftsman’s houses and various devices (heavy hammer, sledgehammer and stone pens). When Egptians started to control their cities, they found a Feudal Kingdom system in Southeast Anatolia. One of these kingdoms, Sam’al have reopened the quarry to work. Some historians claimed that craftsmen were exactioned by the Assyrians and have been used for their monuments.
