ECLIPSE SUNSET WITH A RAINBOW FAN

The ocean was doing its normal, quiet thing… and then the horizon lit up like it had prisms hidden in the clouds.

What you’re seeing is a partial solar eclipse at sunset plus crepuscular rays. The Moon covers part of the Sun, so the remaining crescent is extra sharp and bright. Then the low sun shines through gaps in the cloud deck, creating those long “fan” beams.

The subtle rainbow tint in the rays can happen when the light hits tiny droplets or ice crystals in the cloud edges — they scatter and split the sunlight just enough to paint color into the beams.

📍A scene like this fits the US Atlantic coast (Outer Banks / Cape Cod vibes) when a storm line clears right at sunset.
