Pujya Datta Swamij's message -
Veera Anjaneya Swami ki Jai! Pavana Suta Veera Hanuman ki Jai! Rama Lakshmana Janaki - Jai Bolo Hanuman ki!
So far, you heard some wonderful messages. These are all gems we need to collect in the box called Brain. It will come in useful during difficulties, when the mind is troubled. When you recall them during difficult times, you will recall this and feel at peace.
Grief and difficulties never end...they seem to end, but they come back. We have weeds in crops. For some strange reason, weeds grow faster. We use manure and work hard to raise good crops. But weeds need nothing. They tested per science to see if weeds are multiplying due to the manure and other sprays. But the weeds did not. They survive on the plants themselves.
After the crops grow, the weeds draw nutrition from the roots of the crops. Whether organic or chemical fertilisers, the weeds take from the roots of the crops.
Like that, unnecessary rubbish are the weeds in the mind. When those weeds are removed, sometimes, the crops of good thoughts are also gone with them. The gems we collect with a lot of effort are like the crops.
Say the Guru is singing while walking with a Tanpura in hand. The Guru does not seek alms, but people rushed to offer. In the old days, sages would sing beautifully with the small Tanpura and would sing the stories of great deities, the Ramayana, the Mahabharat, the future etc. They would sing about the future of that household. The householders would run after the sages to hear more. But the sages would refuse to enter the house. The sages would - without taking the names - talk about who is going to take birth, who is going to die, what accidents could happen etc. They would continue walking while predicting the future. That is only a caution from God. God is reminding us to be careful. Be careful with your Indriyas. Danger is around the corner, death can strike any moment - the caution says.
We are shocked that the person we spoke to yesterday is no longer alive today. Yama has no compassion. He is only focused on duty. We have evolved from our births like those micro organisms. We kill them and we again take birth as them.
Like I said yesterday, all chicken, lamb and cow will take their revenge, there is no escape. I mentioned that they will take birth as our relatives and family members, kith and kin and will subject us to suffering. They may take us to court, for example. Even the roaches you spray on to kill will come back to avenge your deed. There is no escape, this is Brahma’s rule.
Sometimes, we wonder what sins we committed for us to have this kind of suffering. You may not remember now, but you did something then with or without realizing what you were doing.
How do we get rid of all this? We took birth, ate, grew up. We came with 6 stages in the body starting from - childhood to adolescence to youth and so on until death. All those 6 stages have suffering. Guru keeps cautioning us.
The Vedanta that we have in Sanatana Dharma is found no where else. The Atma Tattva Jnana, the secrets of nature, the secrets of human birth, the descriptions of Atman, Buddhi, Indriyas are all there in all our Upanishads as well as Puranas. Puranas have stories exactly as they happen in our life. When we read some of those stories, they will feel very close to our life stories. Those are the ways God is cautioning us, but we don't take note.
Before an old house collapses, it gives us signs. You might hear some creaking in the ceiling. You must take note and get out of the house. The cracking becomes silent for about an hour before the house collapses.
God gives us time to escape, and we need to use that time.
An old house warns before it is about to collapse. The body too warns us before it is about to die. Yet, we keep running after doctors. The bell has rung, you must be ready. Even at 99 years, you cannot cry for good health. I keep scolding those old people - why hanker for good health. Chant God's name, you will forget your suffering. You cannot become young again.
You must prepare for this time. After 60 years, we should get ready. We should not be afraid of death.
"I am afraid I will die", of course one has to die. "Who will paint this house?" "I wish to see my youngest granddaughter (who happens to be only 5 years old by the way) get married one day". Why desire so much?
Normally, after 60 years of life, one cycle is said to be complete. God still gives years to live after that.
After that old age, you cannot recognize anyone, nor hear clearly. Each Indriya keeps giving up, these are all cautions, yet we want to keep repairing the body. How much will we keep repairing? Why not give up everything and get everything new? All body parts are worn out and rusted.
Nowadays, all body parts are available in the market. Eyes, ears, nose, heart, lungs, kidneys - everything.
What is the use of living a little longer? How is another person or this society benefitting from you? What is happening due to you? You are only an expense, but there is nothing good coming out of it. The doctors are building mansions, but you and your body parts are withering away.
So, what should we do, should we just let it be, you may ask? Yes! We should live naturally and die a natural death. Now, we have AI. Now when we see the videos on Instagram, it is hard to say if the video is real or AI generated. Many are misusing this and giving away money to fake charities.
Someone may have a fake video of Swamiji instructing you send funds to a charity. Some devotees may be fooled by it. Do not do that. Only support directly. There are frauds and threats everywhere. People open bank accounts on our names. Many well educated people have fallen for scams and hacks. The more you rely on the phones, the more we lose.
Use the phone only as much as is needed. These losses too are a caution for us. God gives us everything.
About 40 hours before death, God gives everyone a signal. I will not tell you because you will all go and check your face in the mirror everyday.
WE should not even say, "I should die", or "I am done, I will die". Death will come anyway, why worry about it? Do not worry about what you cannot get easily - What is Atma Tattva, Who am I am? Why I am born as a girl (or boy) here, what is my duty? I am educated, but have no job, why? Am I useless, am I a burden on this house? Do I need to run away, do I need to beg for a job? What am I supposed to do?
Should I pick up trash and earn thousands like they are doing. Many are setting up hotels, many are doing manual labor, should I do any of these? Should I work at an old-age home and make some money?
These educated people will never do any of these jobs. If you only want collector job, how can you get it at 40 years of age. You are educated, no doubt. You did not study to get Jnana, you only studied to get a job. When you study to gain knowledge, you will surely find a job that needs that knowledge.
You always only took courses that you think will land you a job. You must instead study to gain knowledge. If you don't get a job when you do this, you can talk to me. You are constantly calculating courses and the jobs they can fetch. Don't do that. It is enough to get a job that will meet your expenses.
You must stop thinking about the job and study well and acquire knowledge. You will find a job as soon as you graduate if you... Your words, your actions, your body language are depriving you of your job. When you go to the office, work humbly like a laborer, rather than go like you are the Chief there.
Many announce on loudly that they will uplift the society, but are nowhere to be seen after a few months. Their words, their body language and their publicity are big and bold, but within six months, they are nowhere.
Many come claiming they will uplift the country or make others leaders. They cannot become leaders themselves, but claim they will uplift others. I am speaking in this tone and manner so you understand fully.
Do not harbor excess desire for life. You must adapt and be appropriate to that moment. Excess desire leads to grief and disappointment. If you have the ability to withstand grief, then dream big. Many day dream that they will become President or some important person. After dreaming like this endlessly, the person goes mad.
Some people will wish for what they know is not possible. You look at others, or read about them, and wish for what they had. Their life is different from ours. Some argue "Why cannot I have what they have?" You must be you
One man was doing really great mimicry. Everyone in the kingdom applauded him. The king too rewarded him. The king asked him to speak like the king's guru and the man did. No AI could match him.
The king lauded him and said: You spoke like me, the King. You spoke like each being I asked you do - bird, mosquito, buffalo, people etc. How wonderful! I wish to hear your original voice" The man forgot his original voice. He struggled.
The king said “What is the use of all this mimicry if you cannot remember the voice that God gave you?”
We think all these skills will give us food. We need knowledge to withstand difficulties. Difficulties are inevitable even for the educated and the employed. We are forgetting our originality. God gave us some innate strength. Work on that and present that. You have innate courage and forbearance. Brahma sent each being filling us with everything we need. He put the entire world in each of us.
How wonderful that God soundproofed our body so we cannot hear the growling made by our stomach. Without that soundproofing, we would run away from this place hearing the loud sounds from the bellies around us.
God gave us intelligence too, to deal with hunger, thirst, desire, anger etc. Don't just say God gave you desire and anger. He also gave you the antidote for them. God is so intelligent. He gives what we need in a given moment.
Creation happened once, it will not keep happening again. Think about it. This is a self-propelling machine. Beings are unable to get out of this cycle. We keep taking births within this cycle, in various wombs, in various forms. There are countless beings, all of them created at the same time.
Therefore, you good devotees who follow the Guru should take note of the antidote. The more you adopt it, the more you get out of this cycle.
The grinding stone has two stones - one above and one below. There is a stick that is placed in the upper stone. There is a spindle in the middle that engages the two stones. Grains put in around the spindle get ground between the two stones. That turns into shapeless flour and goes into our body. The food we eat enters our blood stream.
Following your karma, you take birth as a human or chicken, or moth, or lizard or roach, and the cycle continues. God has put us back in the grinding stone. We are in the grinding stone now, we are getting powdered, we are losing our innate strength.
We cannot move our limbs, our indriyas do not work. The 90 year old does not have the energy that a 10 year old has. The body is falling off. You had so much love for your body, but you leave it behind .You are not taking it with you when you leave. Did anyone in Tenali take their body with them?
No one takes their body with them. You don't take your eyeglasses, your watch, your ring etc. Nothing.! The body has fallen off. Only the karma related to your being moves with you and takes another body. This is all we do. There is an antidote, find out what it is.
Great souls clamor "Listen to Bhagavatam, it will do you good. But you don't! Only 2-3 people present here will listen to Bhagavatam, the rest will not. Once, Shiva nad Parvati were traveling in the sky and looked down at earth. Parvati asked if everyone here will attain liberation."
If everyone that dipped in Kumba Mela get Moksa, can there be room in Shiva loka or Vishnu loka. Shiva said only 1-2 would get liberation. Parvati wanted to see who they would be. Shiva advises that they go in human form as an old couple. Parvati would cry for her old, dying husband requesting some one who is free from sin to pour some water in his mouth. Parvati did as planned. She also says that if a sinner were to pour water in his mouth, the old man would die immediately.
People in thousands passed by. Some wonder if they dipped fully in the river, if their head was fully submerged. Some think about their bus leaving, some think about their keys...some think about money...some think about their phone...these are all the thoughts while they bathed in Ganga.
Everyone had varying thoughts. No one came to help the old woman, no one thought about giving her some water. Parvati was worried it was getting dark, Shiva asked her to be patient.
Right then, a cruel and sinful thief came running to Ganga. His two arms were cut off as punishment. He was chanting Shiva's name. He was convinced his sins would be destroyed when he dipped in Ganga, and he would go to Shiva loka. Once one person becomes a thief, he would be blamed for all theft.
As he was going to the river, he noticed the old couple. Parvati said the husband would live if someone with conviction poured water in her husband's mouth.
The man went to the river, prayed wholeheartedly, sought forgiveness for this misdeeds and dipped repeatedly. He had no arms, nor did he find any container nearby. He washed his mouth and collected the water in his mouth and poured it in the old man's mouth.
The moment he did that, he gained a divine form and regained his hands. He went to Shiva loka in a divine plane. He had never helped anyone, but was now helping selflessly. When we dip in the Ganga, or when we go to some Kshetra, we should believe all our sins are gone. If you wonder whether they are gone, they will not go.
Even to dip three times, you struggle. Their head does not even get wet. You will not die that easily, with just three dips in a river. You are worried about dying? Okay die. You carefully touch the water with your fingertips to see if it's cold and get deterred by the coldness.
Your intellect is the fruit you offer to God. Your body is the leaf being offered to God. Tears of joy are the water you offer to God. You must not cry from grief, you must have tears of joy. Don't cry for death, it will come anyway. You blame God for lack of food, for lack of job etc. You must never blame God!
We are so fortunate that we have this Kshetra of the body. Using this, we should reach God. Using this Kshetra, we should know the Kshetrajna.n"aankh mere taras rahe..." - my eyes yearn to see you. My tongue yearns to chant your name, not to eat tamarind rice. My body is yearning to embrace you. You must have a Moorti at home and embrace it everyday. Your tongue must always keep chanting God's names.
Why keep moaning. Turn that into chanting. When you stand up chanting Datta's name instead of meaningless exclamations like Ayyo..Amma..Abba... Chant the name of Krishna, turn those moans into divine names.
When you put the infant in the cradle, speak sweetly as if you are speaking to God. Do not cry, do not say anything negative.
You must show love. You cry while feeding your son, "You still have no job, but you eat like a donkey". What will the boy eat? He may be your son, but you are feeding him what God gave you. Why so much grief and so much scolding? Finally, the parent laments that they just want to die. That is wrong. Even if you die, you will linger there as a ghost. You must not even think about death. No one comes to earth without a return ticket. So do not worry, be brave. Try to do as much good as possible.
Today we heard three speeches, they were wonderful.
The second speaker - Narayana Murthy - narrated the entire Sundarkanda. When I was a child, they would have stand on a platform and chant "Sri Anjaneyam Prasannanjaneyam". My sister in law would proudly show me off while having me chant.I was about 5 years old then.
When he chanted the Dandakam, I remembered my childhood. While chanting that Dandakam, the Trinidad Hanuman was consecrated. There were lakhs of people there. Generations ago, they had migrated to that country, and love Hanuman very much. Every household has Swamiji's photo.
They did a big celebration in the entire town. That is where Swamiji narrated even the Shatashloki Ramayan. All the children there chant the Shatashloki. They sing our Telugu bhajans so well. There are a few groups that sing bhajans. They play the instruments needed and sing.
We should develop interest. Every Sunday, come and do bhajans. All of you are here today. Sankranti wishes to all of you. Just as the sun moves today, let your problems move away too. The sun light burns away all impurities. May all your difficulties be burned by Surya deva.
