ARIPO - A NATIONAL TREASURE!
Nestled in the northern range of Trinidad lies a site of immense spiritual, historical, and national significance: the Aripo River. Much more than a scenic landmark, this sacred space—once known as Aryapura—has been recognized by saints, scriptures, and sages as a holy tirtha, flowing with the unseen but powerful attributes of the Ganges.

The first sacred visit by His Holiness Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji revered pontiff of the Avadhoota Datta Peetham in Mysuru, took place on Shravan Krishna Panchami, Saturday 14 August 1976. It was His actual visit to the river! It marked not only a physical journey but the completion of an old desire and revelation of Aripo’s ancient, divine essence. Accompanied by locals —Swamiji declared the river to be the “Aripo Datta Ganga”, also known as “Aripo Datta Kashi Nath”.

This was no mere poetic naming. Swamiji revealed that as a boy, while reading the Brahmananda Purana with his grandfather, the river described as Sararipu or Saptarshi Nadi appeared in his meditation. He intuited that this very river, once part of the celestial Ganges, was located in Trinidad. This divine affirmation was later echoed again in a discourse on 3rd August 2025, where Swamiji proclaimed: “I was in Trinidad, by the Aripo (once called Aryapura) river. Kalidasa described this river—I wished to see that river.”

Scriptures such as the Brahmananda Purana and the works of Kalidasa—the legendary Sanskrit poet—bear witness to this connection, linking Aripo to the sacred geography of India when the earth was one land mass. Just as Ganagapur in India is hallowed by the confluence of the Krishna, Bheem, and Amaraja rivers, Aripo is a confluence of streams-a prayag of earth, water, spirit, and history.

Sri Swamiji further sanctified the area by consecrating a Vana Shiva Lingam and His Sacred Datta Padukas, and the sacred Audumbara a wish giving tree sacred to Bhagwan Dattatreya transforming Aripo into a living kshetra—a place of divine presence, healing, sadhana and pilgrimage. Those who bathe here, meditate, or simply walk its banks are invited into a space that transcends the physical. It is a place where the living presence of the Divine can be felt—deeply, personally, and profoundly.

On the eve of the 49th anniversary of this sacred recognition, it is time for the people of Trinidad and Tobago, and the world, to see Aripo anew—not just as a river, but as a spiritual beacon. A national treasure, yes—but even more, a universal sanctuary, flowing with timeless grace.

Time flies ,make full use!
Rama Lakshmana Janaki, Jai Bolo Hanuman Ki! Kalyana Venkataramana Swami Govinda!
We are all jeevis, we need to know the Paramatma Tattva. To understand that Tattva. Lord Vishnu took so many incarnations. Someone here asked: You have Shiva as well as Vishnu here, how come? Vishnu's heart is Shiva and Shiva's heart is Vishnu. When someone passes away in Kasi, Shiva whispers Rama Nama in their ear. Shiva and Vishnu are one. They wish to grant liberation to everyone. Shiva is the witness to our karma getting exhausted. That is why Venkateshwara includes Venkata and Ishvara even though grammatically, it has other meanings.
Venkata is one who destroys sins. With logic, grammar, debates, many argue this and waste all their time and finally even lose God. We should not lose God. Logic and debates only waste our time. Our time here is limited anyway. For the first 12 years, we are children, then we enter youth, grow up, get married and get busy. We get old before we realize and then it sinks in that our entire life has gone by and we have not even known the Guru.
Many people spend their childhood in playing. Youth and adult hood they feel should be spend in enjoying time with children, property etc. Then, they get into family issues, buy multiple homes, and are still not content. Old age inevitably comes. In old age, we cannot see very well, hands and legs do not move as we like, we fall, we get operated on. Our children put us in old age homes. That is it. The time we live for - 100 years - is not enough for anything.
Vedic studies take about 16 years. If you keep earning various degrees after high school, that takes several years too. If you are studying medicine, almost half your life is over. So we should make use of the time we have as early as possible.
In the past, there was no electricity. So every town has its utsava/procession. The procession with moortis would stop at every household. The people would eat at that time, because they would have some light when the procession stops in front of their house. This is talked about humorously, but is also sad.
Dasaratha pleaded with Sage Vishwamitra to not take Sri Rama to the forests because Sri Rama was still a young lad who would fall asleep before sunset. Sage Vasishtha dissuaded the king saying not sending Sri Rama was dangerous to both the king and to Vishwamitra. Vishwamitra had the power to destroy the rakshasas with a blade of grass if needed. Sage Vasishtha advised: Do not think Sage Vishwamitra has no power. If the sage killed the demons, they would come back as demons, but if Sri Rama slew them, they attain liberation, so, send Sri Rama.
It brings tears to our eyes hearing that conversation. The king is reluctant to send the young lad to the forests. Sage Valmiki and Tulasidas have composed the Ramayana exquisitely. We start getting a little sleepy when the sun starts setting. We lose half our lifespan in sleep. In the 32 years of life, we gain our education, get married etc. The next few years, we are working on our children and setting various issues. We get old quickly and have barely any time.
Our neighbors might be cooking some delicacies or snacks, the aroma wafting into our home, but we have no teeth to chew our food. We cannot see very well. Health insurance does not fully meet our needs.
Yama's messengers come and take us away happily. Vishnu's messengers do not come to us. Yama's world is very crowded. So they made a second world. They made various wells/pits because it is overcrowded.
Devotee Satish Kodeboyina does Annadana with a lot of love. I know everything everyone is doing. You do not need to remind. I am witnessing everything with all my eyes. My vehicle is the peacock, I have many many eyes. I know all the whispers and gossips and will use the arrows when needed. Swamiji does not reveal immediately.
So, just as the people in the villlage would eat while the procession passed in front of their house, we should make hay while sun shines and think about God while alive and well. The train in Japan barely stops at a station. It is gone before you know. So we cannot travel with 24 big bags, you will need to put one bag on each train, because the train stops only for a bit. And if you did that, those abandoned bags will be tossed from the train.
So, we need to jump on the train swiftly. This life too is like that. "Really? It's been three years since that person passed?" That does not count. That person's account is closed. But you have lost 3 years. What to do, those who live and those who die - all need space. Look at the strangeness of this body. In Kannada, they say: A cow says: My cowdung gives you even medicines, its urine too is used as medicine against cancer (this was done in old days), cow dung cakes were used as fuel for stoves.
In a village someone dried their cowdung cakes on the wall. The city dwellers visited wondered how the cows climbed the wall and dumped their dung on it. If you leave the cow dung as it, it turns into good compost and manure. The cow's skin is good for leather, what are you useful for, O human? No one uses your manure, if they did, the trees would die, it so acidic. Human urine on a plant dries it up, it is so acidic. That is why these days, dead bodies are being cremated, not buried.
So, the cow asks - O human, what are you useful for? You are no good for medicine, you are a burden on this world. What are you really useful for? You are only useful for yourself. What life is this? Where is happiness? Vedanta teaches us to be happy. Okay, what is the benefit of that happiness. But we should not nurture any grief. Be happy as long as you live. Do not fear suffering, do not fear death. Face it bravely.
Venkataramana Swamy bestows boons in this Kaliyuga. Man always wants more and more. He has no satisfaction. "I wish I had this, I wish I had that. I wish I had a grandson". You are jealous that the neighbor got a fancy car. Clothes, food, house, possessions- everything is filled with dissatisfaction. We are okay when we sleep, but when we wake up, the dissatisfaction starts.
We should face problems head on. Let the problems come, humans will have problems, who else will? We must have sinned in some birth we will fight our battle and adjust within our means. Do not clamor for more and more. Give me 1 rupee, I will earn 10. Give me 10, I will earn 100. We have no satisfaction. When we are greedy to get more food served on the plate and once we find that it has excess salt, we discard the entire plate. So, have only smaller portions to start with and then get more servings if you like the food.
We have no peace/shanti. We have no contentment. We need both peace and comfort. That is why it is very important to sing praises of God. Peace is not purchased in stores. Awaken the peace in you. Awaken the talent, the light, the enthusiasm in you. Why always be devoid of enthusiasm. Someone asks you how you are, you don't show much enthusiasm. You are always dull, why?
A man is taken to a doctor because he appeared depressed. The wife takes him for counselling. The doctor talks to the husband for an hour. Finally, the husband opens his mouth and says: I wonder if Trump will come to power or Biden will. Why do you care who comes to power. You do your bit of hard work. This man was so disappointed and worried about who would come to power. You exercise your right to vote and forget the rest. Whoever comes to power will be good. Trump is doing some good things too. May Venketaramana Swamy give good intellect to him.
Someone asked me what I prayed for. I should not reveal what I pray within. I have some wishes too. You triggered me for those wishes. I now wish for a Gita Mandir.
The entire world is doing Bhagavad Gita. Why not have an SGS Bhagavad Gita Mandir/temple? We can have 10 classrooms for Bala Datta, rooms for Gita, a life size Krishna, a lecture hall, may be Krishna/Arjuna on the stage and then Swamiji sitting there and explaining the meaning of Bhagavad Gita shlokas. I thought that would be very nice.
Now, since Venkataramana Swamy is here, we need Krishna too. We already have Rama. All family members need to be here. We have darshan of Mother, Ganapati, Subramany Swamy, Shiva etc. And then, we can go to Krishna and meditate there.
We are anyway building a car park for 400 cars. Why do we need parking here at the temple. We can build a beautiful hall with a life size Krishna. We can have parayana, bhajans, sangeetam/music etc because the temple may get crowded at times.
Everyone that has learned the Bhagavad Gita should donate to this, there is no choice. Everyone that has applauded must donate, those who did not applaud must give even more.
So, we will have a Gita Temple, a Music Temple, from where will keep echoing divine names at all times.
This temple will ring with those vibrations. We had a meeting to discuss this. The team was very happy. I asked them why and they said Swamiji would be coming back very soon. I told them it might take at least a year, but they said Swamiji would need to come for Bhumi Puja.
I wish to come for Mandala Puja, but we need to do Devi Puja (Navaratri). The team is confident that Venkataramana Swamy will bless us with the funds we need for construction. You have that faith, good.
It is only 6000 years ago that Dvapara Yuga ended. That is when Bhagavad Gita ended. It is so wonderful that we are worshiping Krishna so close to Dvapara Yuga. We are now about to enter the second quarter of kailyuga, the fourth quarter will have a lot of hardship. We do not want our grandkids and great grand kids to suffer. We need to leave a good world for our descendants. Alexander died with his hands open to show he was not taking anything with him.
A king called Khatvanga defeated all Devatas. Shuka Brahma was getting Bhagavata Upadesha from Pariksh*t as the latter was dying within 7 days. But Khatvanga had only 7 second to live. Narada revealed to him. He chanted the name of God with full immersion and attained higher worlds. He chanted the name of Narayana and earned liberation. Pariksh*t had 7 days time, he could do a lot more. So we never know when our final moments come.
An old devotee served Swamiji for 30 years as an accountant. He would go to see his children, but he would keep coming back to see Swamiji often. He came to see Swamiji before Swamiji's tour and said: I know this body will not be alive by the time you return. Please bless me now.
Now, they will sing Dola. Dola is nothing but God's happiness and bliss.

Bhishma Pitamah advise!
As discussed yesterday, we have been talking about learning music and a certification course for the same. We have only our Divya Nama Sankeertana. Everyone register and learn music (sangeetam) and Swamiji's Divya Nama Sankeertana. Sankeertana improves our health and also solves all kinds of problems in our life. Sankeertana has powerful seed letters and mantras. For short, we call them 'bhajan', but that's not the correct name. Bhajan is mainly namavali - the repeated chanting of divine names. Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, for example.
But Divya Nama Sankeertana is the correct name. So, we are attending Divya Nama Sankeertana, do not call it a bhajan session, which would be the repetition of divine names as mentioned before.
Even Maharashtrians singing praises of Vitthala do not call them bhajans. They call them Divya Nama Sankeertana. It is not wrong or sinful to call them bhajans, but Divya Nama Sankeertana is more appropriate.
Please enroll in these classes. We will have good teachers. You must learn Divya Nama Sankeertana and then slowly understand the meaning. Each sankeertana composition meaning, we need to learn. I am very happy that we are now having a little bit of success after so many years. Do not think you are senior and do not need to enroll. You must register and get certified.
Every single person must enroll. There is a small fee that will help the program. Then, we can invite great musicians and scholars to come and sing here. Each Sankeertana has seed letters and wisdom we need for everyday life.
Some children asked me some questions. Someone asked me how coffee was born. Do you know there is a Purana about coffee too? No Purana mentions it, but there are fables about it. Also, someone asked about the importance of annadana, we even talked about a story. Someone else asked how to deal with a stubborn child at home. If it were India, I would have asked them to whack the kid, but here I have to give that idea some restrain.
How should we conduct ourselves with fools, with mad people? We should not get repulsed by mad people. They may talk crazy, but we should not dismiss them as sinners in a prior birth they were born as mad people. We should motivate them instead.
Time will not always be in our favor. Sometimes, things are favorable and sometimes unfavorable. At such times, how should the wise and the good hearted behave? This is another question. Not knowing how to behave with fools, some good ones go against them and meet their downfall.
Dharmaraja grasped this and wanted to give the solution to the problem. So, even though he knew the answer, he wanted this to come from grandfather Bhishma since words of the great and noble souls last forever. Dharmaraja asked Bhishma: “Grandsire, fools always trouble the wise and the good hearted. They speak in a way that causes hurt to them. They do not let good people, they keep hurting them. We see this in homes too. People who do this are sadists. Then, how should the good hearted behave” he asked.
Grandsire said: “O Dharmaraja, in this world, the good person always tolerates the words of the fools, ever since the beginning of this creation. Patience is indeed the way”. There is a small story in Kannada in this context. Good people always tolerate the harsh words. "I know how to get the fool to close his mouth, I will answer him tit-for-tat, I am not dumb or a nincompoop" - such thinking is not the right approach.
By not getting angry with the one who criticized you, you get the merit of the offender. When someone blames you, you demonstrate your patience with them. Be indifferent, ignore. You can smile at them, thank them and say Jaya Guru Datta! They will get furious, you must smile and ask if they want water to drink. If they beat you, ask them if they need any ointment to nurse their bruise.
But do we have such patience? When we are patient, the other person will rectify himself. If he does not, he is a fool. By tolerating the blame, one gives away one's sins to the blamer. This is not a fable, it is in the Mahabharata. This is another way to reduce our sins. That doesn't mean you go about wishing others blame and criticize you.
There is a bird - lapwing - that shrieks very loudly, so does the fool. But do not think about fighting him back to win. You must not even pay heed to their words. One must just go about one's duty. By doing this, the world will realize that the other person is a fool.
Implement this at home. When your husband yells at you, make some good food and say - you yelled a lot, you need energy, here's some hot pongal for you. Treat them well, do not fight them. "Is this food good, you yelled so well? You used many new words, I will write them down to learn them. Did your pain subside from the beating?" The man will slowly learn what he did was wrong. This makes all the tasks of the fool worthless. His words and his actions will carry no weight.
The sinner always thinks he is the good person, his actions are right, his conduct is right. The good people will never speak. The one who boasts about this conduct is not the good person, says Bhishma himself. His actions may be bad, but he boasts about himself all the time - I am a good person, I studied in this great university, my father has done great things, my mother has done great things...
"I made a mistake marrying you..." the person will say this after he has had 10 children, yet he will keep defending his actions. The one who defends himself the most is the offender. He keeps cursing the good people. The good person should give up all this. The crow keeps shouting, but in vain. So does the fool, His shouting is worthless and has no benefit, it will only harm him.
If the good person counters, it will only result in a shouting match. But if one of them is quiet, the fool's inane nature is revealed. Then, the fools' reality is out and the others can conduct themselves accordingly. The fool will throw up all the pent up feelings in him.
This lowly person has no limits to his baseness. The angry person often says, "I am not even human when I am angry". Yes, they are like animals. They lose discretion about good vs. bad. With such people, its better to speak minimally, or not speak at all. Do not try to correct them, Nature will correct them, said Bhishma. There is not one kind of fool. There are many.
The good hearted person virtues are often praised to their face by some people. But behind their back, those people will gossip about them. Such people will face losses in this world and in the after world. Moreover, the one who blames behind the back and not to their face will find all their good deeds to be in vain. Such person will directly go to hell. Therefore, the good person must walk the path of the noble and pious.
Like the pious do not touch the meat touched by a dog, the wise must give up association with such ignoble people. Do not talk behind others' back. People who do this are like the meat touched by a dog.
Grandsire Bhishma said this to Dharmaraja.
What a wonderful piece of wisdom. Those who deliberately find flaws in the noble and poke at them is only revealing his flaws to the world. The one who is always criticizing is the jackal in a human form. We should abandon them like they are mad dogs. No one rears a mad dog.
The wise should pacify such ignoble, instead of inciting them. The fool who is angry can go to any extent. We are seeing this today in newspapers and TV. Criminals stabbing people recklessly...I sometimes wonder why we have TVs at all. So the wise should be away from the fool. The one who tolerates the blame by the fool in public will never face harm. He will only be uplifted.
Question: We can argue and defeat the fool in a debate, so why not?
Response: In Bhagavad Gita, the Lord said - the fools and the demonic ones cannot seek refuge in me - mudhoyam nabhijanati..- I have no birth and death, I am eternal, but the ignorant cannot understand me.Moreover, the fool cannot also understand that we leave this body and go to another. Even if the fools are harsh with us, we should tolerate patiently. Keep this in mind and avoid fighting with the fools. Implement this at home. You can just smile or laugh. Don't laugh to their face, they'll get even more furious Be patient. All their inner frustration is coming out. By being patient, we will attain victory. May this upadesha be firmly establshed in your intellect, Bhishma advised Dharmaraja. Dharmaraja knew all this, but wanted to hear from the Guru.
Dharmaraja would often seek Upanishadic guidance from Bhishma since Bhishma was like Guru. Dharmaraja writes the protocol and guidelines for ruling a kingdom, for doing yajnas etc, but hands that to Bhishma so the latter can talk about it.

Children asked how coffee was born?
Once, in Kailasa, Ganga descended from Shiva's head. One story says it happened with Bhagiratha's penance. The second time Ganga descends is due to Gowri's ploy. As soon as Ganga descended, Shiva caught a cold and his nose kept running. He had no clothes or napkins to wipe his nose. He took Gowri's end of the sari to wipe his nose, but that wasn't enough. He even caught a fever. Everyone learned about it. Too much heat worsens the cold. Cold may be cured with cold. All gods arrived. Varuna turned off his switch. All gods tried. The fever did not get better. Vishnu came and then Hanuman too.
"During Ramayana, you helped Lakshmana and Rama revive, why don't you bring some herb for Shiva?" Hanuman goes beyond. Gandhamada mountain and comes upon a garden with fruits. The fruits tasted good, he takes some fruits and is traveling sky wards. He flew over many countries and the seeds from his fruits kept falling in all his countries. He wondered what to do with the remaining seeds. Agni deva then roasted them and they powdered it. Kamadhenu gave some milk and Raja Rajeshwari who had sugarcane in her hand gave some sugar. Kamadhenu came out see what was happening, but they took her milk in the meanwhile. Now, they mixed all this together and due to Agni Deva it was hot. Everyone drank a cup while they invited Shiva. As he drank it, his cold stopped. He wanted some more. Since Hanuman who is Kapi brought this potion, it became coffee! Where the seeds fell, that became Jamaica coffee 🙂
So this name was born in Kalisa. What purana is this in? It's in Sachhcidananda Purana. That is why when we go to drink coffee, we see so many options. We do not even feel like drinking coffee seeing so many options. Mother Goddess had come with all her decorations, so we will sing her song.
The Bengaluru Karya Siddhi Hanuman is so famed. Offering Purnaphala there grants all the wishes. There is so much rush there everyday. That same greatness of Hanuman is here too in Frisco.
Next year will mark 50 years of my travels to America. Today, I decided that it would be good to build Bhagavad Gita classes here. If everyone in the Gita program can support, this can be done quickly. We should have the ability to conduct classes here, now with the shrines, it's harder to find space, there is also a lot of crowd here. But if we can have 15-20 rooms and a hall with some car parking, that will help. We will see where and how we do it. We do not want it to be very far from here. Those in the Gita program collect and set aside some funds. I want to announce this tomorrow, but I could not hold back. Tomorrow, there will be abhisheka with fragrant items to Lord Venkateswara.
Swamiji cautions to follow traffic rules and drive safely. Do not rush. Everyone seated in the car, even in the back seat should buckle up, Swamiji reminds.

Divya Nama Sankirtana –a Must!If we chant Govinda just once, the heart beat will match the rhythm because Govinda is hid...
10/08/2025

Divya Nama Sankirtana –a Must!
If we chant Govinda just once, the heart beat will match the rhythm because Govinda is hidden in the cave of our heart. Govinda is hidden in the temple of our heart within, he is also outside the heart. We worship Govinda to open the doors of our heart.
In the field of mind, he removes the weeds called sins. Despite our discipline and restraint, we keep thinking sins or speaking them. The vibrations of sinful friends and others around us can influence our energy. So, we should be careful. Such energy can influence people of all ages, not just students. People get disappointed when things don't go well, this could be due to that negative energy.
God keeps giving us suffering, he keeps sowing doubts in our mind. We should transcend that. We saw how many difficulties God gave his devotees. Did Prahlada have to go through so much suffering? One must go through what one's destined for. Mira Bai, Markandeya, Dhruva etc all went through so much suffering.
Why go that far? Pandavas who were right with Krishna and called Him their brother in law, had to suffer so much. His own sister, her husband and their son had to undergo so much suffering. The son was killed in a maya labyrinth during the war. Draupadi and Kunti had so much devotion, yet they were tested so much. No one perhaps has as much devotion as Kunti who had the 5 gross elements verily as her sons.
Sometimes some good plants are affected when the weeds are removed because they are attached at the roots. But that too is dharma. Creating a fence called Vairagya /detachment, He lets us reap the field of devotion. Bhakti or devotion should be stregthened. We shoudl reudce our k**a, krodha and laziness. Some people keep sleeping all the time. Yes, sleep is a gift, but we should not be lazy. IF we cannot sleep, it is suffering.
The Lord grants the fruit of Jnana, hence He is hailed as Jnana. If we meditate on that beautiful form, all our impurities will be gone. We should strengthen devotion. Many are worshiping mechanically. Increase love for God. When playing with the child, when feeding the child, when singing a lullaby, chant Govinda. When taking care of old people, when serving them, chant Govinda, Sri Hari. Call Jaganmata and chant Amma! Devotion will come on its own, you must practice.
Do not think God is a stone. "Moorti is nice, where did you get it made?" This is not a relevant question after prana pratishtha. It's not a moorti anymore. We did prana pratishtha for two hours, we invoked every single part of the form with mantras. Every tooth (for all 32) was invoked with mantras, eyebrows, eyeballs, above and below the eyebrows, all sides and directions from the nose, the hair, the head, ears etc were all invoked. We did not leave out a single part. The Lord had to descend from the heaven.
The Lord's gaze falls on us and he sends signals above towards the tower and that falls directly on the Dhwaja Stamba. That is science. From the devotee, it falls on the Lord from there to the Garuda or Nandi to the Lord's feet and then up towards the small temple tower and then to the Dhwaja Stamba and then to the higher worlds. Then, your prayers are heard all over the creation. That is why you must always make good prayer wishes. Bad ones get recorded too. All your Govind chanting is recorded in the universe.
Pitru devatas are present in a minute/subtle form, as small as atoms. The Lord is in our heart. The Lord form above should enter our heart. We should take care of God with love. Devotion is not just chanting ashtottara. You talk on the phone while performing puja. What puja is that? There should be no distraction. There is no one else but the Lord when you offer worship. That is the mindset you must build.
You are always complaining about things - visa, admissions, money, job etc. You pray to God to give you something so you can give him some donation. This is bribing God. That is nor right. We set up car parking. Will God come and park there? No, he made these facilities for us. What he gives us, we give him. This place is peaceful, so we must support this place.
The temple is feeding us when we are hungry. If we are hungry still, we can buy at the canteen. All this is for us. We break a coconut and offer to God and then make chutney with it. We eat all the naivedya that we offer to God, yet we gloat that we offered naivedya. We make decorations to God and we enjoy the expeirence. It's akin to how we decorate our child and take delight.
IN the old days, they used to have long thick hair and would put jasmine flowers in their hair. Mother had very thick long hair. We used to deligh in braiding the child's long hair. Nowadays, we don't see long hair. We don't even brush the hair and put oil in it. We should brush the hair. We should not leave our hair open. I do not even like to look at girls with hair open. If you tie up your hair, at least wear a clip, it is good for your husband.
Per the Shastras, the hair must always be behind the head. If you wear two plaits, you can let your hair be in the front. You can braid your hair with 3 or 5 parts. Nowadays, we cut off our hair because we want to feel free, since we need to go to the office. You must brush your hair. When you groom your hair well, all poverty goes away. Nowadays, the girls are cutting off their hair and the boys are growing it out. I need to plough through their hair to find the head. The mala I put around them, doesn't pass their head.
Normally, they shoud be clean shaved. But they want to follow fashion. Some others, have long hair that cover their face. They flick their head to push their hair back.If you let your hair cover your eyes, it impacts your eye sight after 40. Girls who have nice hair will have bangs that cover their face and will blow those bangs with their mouth for fun. It is so nice when when girls wear a bun or braid their hair. Some come with wet hair tied up. Water should not drip from the hair of a woman. It is said that famine occurs when the woman's hair drops water or you can blowdry your hair first.
Why is all this important? All these relate to the path of Bhakti. That is why, we should not see God as an idol. We should delight in all the decorations we make to the Lord.
As soon as we chant Krishna, all our troubles fly away. Krishna's nature is such. Even if we humorously say Krishna, it grants merit. Yet, we shorten Krishan to Kittu or something like that. Sita Lakshmi is shortened to Situuu. Lakshmi is shortened to Lacchu. Sati Savitri will probably be shortened to Sattu (which means died).
Nowadays, people are slowly finding our Purnanic names and giving those to children. In North India, they are using so many names from Ramayana. Satyanarayana in South India will be shortened to Satti. Satyanarayana is such a nice name.
Today, we wanted to offer a small composition to the Lord. This composition grants the merit of Purusha Suktam. We need to finally unite with Vitthala, Madhava, Madhusudana. This is not our permanent address. This is only a rental. God will make us vacate this place one day, even if we try hard to hold on to it.
In the past, noble souls when preaching would use music. They propagated spiritual truths through songs. Narada did the same. He wandered various places and would sing. His veena would play on its own. He would travel every country in Krta, Treta Yugas. Then, the Dasa (musical saints) tradition started. They endured much suffering and poured that into their music. Ramadas sang so many songs, as he was enduring a lot of torture. Finally, he was angry and blamed Rama and picked up a fight with Him.
This is Ninda Stuti - praising the God through blaming. He wrote all these compositions in prison.
Tyagaraja was blamed for stealing the moorti that his brother stole. He sang out of great suffering. Rama entered his dreams and directed him to sing about his devotees. He then sang "Endaro mahanubhavulu" When the greats would sing, their students would note them down. Some compositions were lost, some are available. God always gives difficulties, but when we sing with all our heart, in that suffering, it is wonderful
Each song has so much feeling and emotion. A lullaby for the Lord they penned had so much emotion.
Dallas folks brought Tirupati here through this Lord. That is why I called the Lord "pravasa" Swami. He has traveled abroad, but has no visa. This is made especially for musicians to sing.
Singing this is equivalent with chant the Purusha Suktam! It has the same meaning that Purusha Suktam does. Many asked: Swamiji talks to the Amazon parrot called Varam, which is now very old, first thing in the morning. The bird wakes me up in the morning with the next bhajan we will sing. When Swamiji swims, it asks me at exactly 6am, "Ayita?" - Are you done? in Kannada. When I go for Hanuman Chalisa, it chants "Jaya Hanuman Jnana Guna Sagara". When it is Swamiji's birthday, it chants Happy Birthday.
It keeps chanting Datta Datta Datta Datta. It also learned Tamil and asks "saptaacha?" meaning "Did you eat?" As soon as I get of the car and go to my quarters, it asks "Soukhyama?" - "Are you well?"
Yesterday and today, we had Shravana Nakshatra in ascendance. This is a wonderful event! Karya Siddhi Hanuman got His Lord here. We cannot thank Him enough. He got the Lord here, we cannot offer enough prostrations to Him. Every Saturday, having Darshana of the Lord, let's do whatever little offering we can. The Lord gives great boons even in return for our small offerings.
Many in India, take out money from their pocket, if a Rs. 500 bill comes out, they put it back. They only want to give a Rs. 100 bill. The more you give the Lord, the more He gives you. If you give generously, He will give you generously.
Once, Swamiji took the pain of a devotee and then sang in praise of the Lord: "Murisipotunnavu..." (part of the new Venkateshwara album). That day, the Lord was fully decked up. So, I sang "You are decked up and decorated, but you are making me suffer..." The children quickly noted them down.
Mother wrote many wonderful compositions. Some are tora bandhas - they initial letters of each line make a phrase such as Om Namaha Shivaya, or there will be other patterns that will form other phrases.
There are many you already sang, but you don't realize they are tora bandhas, or vajra bandhas or ashta bandhas. Mother would carry me in her arms when I was a toddler and sing these. Swamiji remembered these having penned them at 50 years of age. Take note of the pattern this bhajan that Swamiji is about to sing. This is also a Tora Bandha. Look for the pattern. This is Tora Bandha written by Mother, that Swamiji committed to his memory as a little child and wrote it at 50 years of age.
A student asked his mother to wake up him in the morning for his exam. The mother agreed. The mother asked the father to wake her up. The father went to the son and asked him to wake him up early. Everyone woke up at 8am. If we practice, we can wake up at 3am or 4am. I sleep 40 minutes every night, that is it. We don't need that much sleep, Children need to sleep well, we do not need much sleep. Old people cannot sleep easily anyway.
Everyone learn sangeetam (music). You must get certified too. Music is our life. You do not need to do concerts. You can learn and pass the exam in a year or two. Everyone learn music. Someone requested a Devi Bhajan. We need to please Mother too.
