TT Dance Media joins the world in mourning the loss of a son of the soil, Mr. Arthur Christian Holder, son of the late Boscoe Holder. He was a dancer, choreographer, actor, costume designer, writer, painter and singer.
Christian Holder made his debut as a dancer at the tender age of 4, at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II with his father Boscoe Holder’s company and his Caribbean Dancers. Over the years, he trained at several schools such as the Corona Academy Stage School, the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance and the New York High School of Performing Arts. Subsequently, he joined the then newly formed Joffrey Ballet Dance Company, where he remained a Principal Dancer for 13 years. Apart from the Joffrey Ballet Dance Company, he has choreographed for other companies such as the Washington Ballet, Ballet Conçierto de Puerto Rico and the American Ballet Theatre. He has also designed the costumes for all the ballets he choreographed, and notably for the stage outfits for the late Tina Turner from 1973-1984.
Christian passed away on Monday 18th February, 2025 at his home in England. He was 75 years old.
Our condolences go out to his family and friends. May his soul rest in peace.
