The second round of letters went out today, with the addition of my Animal Control Unit concept.

I was intending to send these letters weekly but monthly works too. The campaign continues until I get a reply from at least one of the Ministers addressed. The next batch will include the Mayor of the Diego Martin Borough Corporation.

Thanks to the Newsday and Guardian for publishing my letter advocating for more attention to animal welfare issues.

If I don't receive a reply from the Ministers by the end of next week, I'll send another batch. These issues aren't going away so we have to keep up the pressure.

Here's something I learned from a recent trip to the vet with Ms Coco Chanel (seen below)

It would help if you clipped your feline's claws ever so often. Why? Because as the nail grows, so does the quick. This means that when the claws are eventually clipped, the risk of hitting the quick is increased.

If the concern was really centred on animals, these millions would be allocated towards annual subventions for rescue organisations and shelters, both for wildlife and companion animals. It could also be used to enhance law enforcement efforts with regard to animal cruelty and wildlife trafficking.

Clearly there was no consultation with animal welfare organisations on this expenditure and we hope concerned citizens are taking note, ahead of the next general election, as to which candidate/party is going to get your vote.

Important info about dogs entering the US...

Starting on August 1, all dogs entering the U.S. (including those that left the U.S. and are returning, and regardless of the country they are coming from) must be:
• healthy upon arrival
• at least 6 months of age
• microchipped
• accompanied by a CDC Dog Import Form receipt and required vaccination and veterinary documents.

Additional requirements may apply depending on where the dog has been in the last 6 months and whether or not the dog was vaccinated in the United States.
