The iconic Great Race is just 9 days away, and teams are deep in the hustle, tackling the stress, fine-tuning their machines, and pushing through every challenge to be ready for race day.

We had the privilege of spending an evening with the Iron Man Offshore Racing Team during one of their testing sessions, and it was a thrill to capture these behind-the-scenes moments.

With just under two weeks to go before the highly anticipated Great Race, the momentum is building, and so is the excitement.

On August 2nd, The Trinidad and Tobago Powerboat Association hosted its annual Boat Show along Ariapita Avenue.

Race teams turned out in full force, proudly showcasing their boats to curious onlookers and passionate fans. The atmosphere was buzzing as people lined the sidewalks, phones in hand, eager to snap a photo of these incredible machines.

All in all, the Boat Show served its purpose, fueling the excitement, and giving us all a taste of what’s to come.

Liam Bartlett turns up the heat in Round 3.

The Mobil 1 TT Spec Miata driver delivered another impressive performance at Round 3 of the Caribbean Spec Miata Series. Bartlett dominated, clinching pole position in two of the three races.

Currently, he sits 6th in the championship standings with 169 points. With consistent performances like these, Bartlett is well on his way to shaking up the leaderboard and putting pressure on the front-runners.

The Caribbean Spec Miata Series made a surprise appearance at the TTERA Endurance event.

A warm welcome was in order for a new face on the grid, none other than the popular and talented Justin Sanguinette, who stepped into car #33, usually piloted by Christian Hospedales.

Race 1 saw Liam Bartlett take the top step, followed closely by David Coelho in P2 and Ryan Peyrau in P3. Ryan was standing in for Ross Viera and made himself quite at home in Viera’s Miata.

Race 2 dialed things up. Ryan Peyrau charged like a bat out of hell, snatching P1 with the fastest lap, of a 47.478. Scott Sheppard followed in P2, with Justin Wortman taking P3. As for John-Michael Sabga… let’s just say he experimented with some unplanned drifting.

The day wrapped up with Race 3, where Liam Bartlett once again rose to the occasion, clinching another P1 finish, this time, complete with celebratory donuts. Behind him, David Coelho and Justin Wortman locked into a tight battle for second, with Coelho ultimately coming out on top.

Sadly, Race 3 wasn’t as kind to Ryan Peyrau, whose pace came to a halt due to technical issues that forced a DNF. Adam Pinheiro continues to hover near podium territory, there’s definitely some fire in him. And Justin Sanguinette? He looked right at home behind the wheel. We’d love to see more of that Miata magic from him in the near future.

Team Sheppard held it down, but we do miss Shane’s flair, no style points this time around, haha. And once again, Brandon Singh ended his day in the tyre barrier.

Regatta 5 turned out to be quite the spectacle to wrap the 2025 Regatta season.

The weather seemed determined to keep everyone guessing, switching between rain and sunshine. Mobil Tyrant and Team Heatwave were out in full force, while the popular Bowen Spec Class delivered their trademark, close elbows-out racing. Spectators lining the shores of Casters Cove were treated to an atmosphere that was pure excitement and suspense.

Regatta 5 also brought its fair share of drama. There were a few collisions, and some competitors decided to test out the “ejecto seato” feature. Among those who went for a swim was a Bowen Spec Class driver, who thankfully emerged unscathed and in good spirits about his unexpected dip.

Special mention goes to Rossi Lochan and Dylan Habib of Team Lightspeed. They were quick to stop and assist the crew of Too Wicked, who were unceremoniously launched out of their boat after an incident. Fortunately, both throttleman and driver were alright, though one did suffer a minor leg injury. It must be said, it was rather convenient that Team Lightspeed happened to be in last place to lend a helping hand, haha.

All jokes aside, the sportsmanship and camaraderie shown by Rossi, Dylan, and so many of the competitors was truly commendable.

A big thank you goes out to Luke and the safety crews who kept everyone secure throughout the season, as well as race control aboard Temptation for their excellent work event after event.

Next up on the TTPBA calendar is the boat show, followed by the legendary Great Race, one of the longest running offshore powerboat races in the world.
