Massive gas separators for Shell’s Manatee Project spotted moving through Guayaguayare
Residents in southeastern Trinidad were treated to an unusual sight on Sunday, April 12, as massive industrial gas separators destined for the Shell Manatee Project was seen being transported through Guayaguayare.
The oversized pieces of equipment, believed to be a key component for gas processing operations, were carefully moved along roadways under tight logistical coordination.
The transport operation drew attention from residents and motorists, many of whom paused to observe or record the slow-moving convoy as it made its way toward the Beachfield area.
The Manatee Project, being developed by Shell, is one of the country’s major upcoming energy ventures. It is expected to tap into significant offshore natural gas reserves and play a crucial role in boosting Trinidad and Tobago’s gas production in the coming years.
Gas separators are critical in the energy sector, used to separate natural gas from liquids and other impurities before processing and distribution. Their size and complexity often require specialized transport arrangements, including police escorts and temporary traffic adjustments.
While officials have not issued a detailed statement on Sunday’s transport, such movements typically form part of the early infrastructure and installation phase of large-scale energy projects.
The sighting underscores continued progress on the Manatee development, which is being closely watched as a key contributor to the nation’s energy sector and economic outlook.
