Good news this Christmas. Health experts say you can enjoy all your favourite festive foods and still protect your wellness. Registered dietitian and lifestyle disease specialist Candida Khan is encouraging families to make this season one of balance, not bingeing.

Khan notes that lifestyle diseases like diabetes and hypertension spike every year because many people adopt an “only once for the season” mindset. But she reminds us that small, sustainable habits can protect our health and even reverse certain conditions.

Khan says healthier choices are within reach. Simple steps like balancing your plate with protein, fibre and carbs, slowing down while eating, avoiding skipped meals, and using smaller portions can make a real difference. Parents can also help children develop better habits by adding fruits and vegetables, cutting back on sugary drinks and involving them in meal prep.

She believes mindful eating can transform lives, giving families more years together and a better quality of life. With the right guidance and nutrition, many of her clients have improved their health from the inside out.

This Christmas, enjoy your favourites with wisdom. Choose balance, stay aware and remember that taking care of your body is a gift to your future.

Sometimes even though we’ve been in a pit of despair for so long over a loss, or a setback, or a broken relationship that we’ve become content to stay there, God won’t give us a choice. He’ll lift you out of the pit and put you on course to your destiny. You didn’t deserve it. You didn’t think it would ever happen. You believed the lies that you were stuck in the pit permanently, but then suddenly God opened a door, suddenly your health turned around, and suddenly the right person showed up. It wasn’t anything you did. It was simply the goodness of God.

I wonder what would happen if you went out each day with the expectancy that God is your lifter. Not just hearing that message, but letting the seed take root, expecting God’s favour, expecting your dreams to come to pass, expecting to get well, expecting God to finish what He started. He’s about to take you out of the pit. He’s going to set your feet on solid ground and give you a new beginning. Expect His goodness.

Good Morning Word Family. Rise and Shine and give God the Glory 🙌🏽🙏🏽 Our W Word today says:

He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.
Psalm 40:2, NLT

Sometimes even though we’ve been in a pit of despair for so long over a loss, or a setback, or a broken relationship that we’ve become content to stay there, God won’t give us a choice. Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You that any pit I find myself pushed down into can never stop the purpose You put in my heart. Thank You that You have the power to deliver me from whatever tries to hold me back. I declare that You are lifting me up and setting my feet on solid ground. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

The prophet Habakkuk was saying, “My crops didn’t bloom, my fields are empty, and my cattle are gone. I am feeling discouraged, defeated, and depressed.” He didn’t deny what he felt, but he also didn’t let his feelings dictate his life. He added one little powerful word—“yet.” He was saying, “All that’s happened to me will not control my attitude. Yet will I rejoice. Yet will I be joyful, knowing that God is fighting my battles.”

Feelings can be compelling. Overwhelming negative feelings may come to you, but do as Habakkuk did and add the “yet.” Don’t let the feelings have the last word. “I had a bad break, yet will I rejoice.” “The medical report isn’t good, yet it won’t steal my peace and joy.” “Coworkers aren’t treating me right, yet I know God is my vindicator.” When you add the “yet,” angels go to work. When you choose to praise instead of complain, the forces of darkness are broken. When you’re consistent, stable, always in a good mood, thanking God that He’s working, you’re a Habakkuk. You’re a “yet” person.

A major breakthrough in South Korea is offering renewed hope for people living with Restless Legs Syndrome. Researchers studying nearly 20,000 individuals found that while RLS patients showed a higher chance of developing Parkinson’s disease, those who received a specific dopamine-based treatment experienced a significantly lower risk and a delayed onset.

Scientists say the results highlight the importance of early care, noting that proper treatment can improve sleep and may help protect long-term neurological health. For many families, this study is a reminder that wisdom and healing can be found even in unexpected places.

We’re all waiting for something. Perhaps it’s for a dream to come to pass, for our health to improve, for a child to turn around. When it takes a long time, and we don’t see anything happening, it’s easy to get discouraged and think that it’s not meant to be. But today Scripture is saying, “Don’t get talked out of what God put in your heart. Just because it hasn’t happened yet doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen.”

God is faithful. He heard your request. He sees you standing in faith. He hears you thanking Him when you could be complaining. What you’re believing for is on the way. When you prayed in faith according to God’s will, He put the promise on the schedule. He already set the time to bring it to pass. You may not see any sign of it yet, but God is working behind the scenes. He’s lining up the right people, arranging the good breaks, the healing, the freedom, the abundance. It’s just a matter of time before you receive what He promised.

Good Morning Word Family. It’s another beautiful day to give thanks to our God! 🙌🏽 Our W Word today says:

Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.

Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You that You have established set times to bring Your promises to pass in my life. Help me to be patient, to accept Your timing, and rest in the fact that it’s all part of Your process. I believe that I am right where You want me and the promise is right on schedule. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

A powerful story of service and hope is unfolding in South Trinidad. Councillor Shawn Premchand is celebrating diver Simon Nathoosingh, who is hearing and speech impaired, for his daily volunteer work in restoring the Usine Ste Madeleine pond. Once known as the fearless “Aquaman” of the reservoir, Nathoosingh is now inspiring the community with his quiet strength and commitment.

Residents, churches, former Caroni workers and local leaders have joined forces to clear the pond and revive plans for an eco-tourism park. What began as a grassroots clean-up has become a reminder of unity, resilience and shared purpose.

This is the impact of one person’s light sparking a whole community into action.

Sometimes we’re frustrated because we know we have more in us but we’re not seeing it happen. David was anointed to be the king, then God sent him back to the shepherds’ fields to care for sheep. Your anointing will supersede where you are right now. But David didn’t slack off or have a sour attitude in the mundane when no one was watching him. Thirteen years later, after being faithful in the shepherds’ fields and going through all kinds of unfair situations with King Saul, David suddenly took the throne. Passing the test in the ordinary days is what leads to exceptional days.

As with David, you may know you have more in you. You can feel the seeds of greatness, but you’re doing something menial, something below your training. Are you being excellent where God has you now? Be faithful in the routine. Be faithful when nothing exciting is happening or changing. If you are being your best where God has you now, serving and giving with a good attitude, God will take you from the background to the foreground.

The Miss Jamaica Organisation is urging the nation to embrace a season of healing, gratitude and renewed strength as December begins. In a new message of encouragement, the group says grace has “found us again” and is inviting Jamaicans at home and across the diaspora to rebuild with hope, uplift one another with kindness and stand united after recent hardships.

They shared that even in difficult moments, Jamaica’s spirit remains unshaken and offered thanks for the resilience that carries the country forward. Supporters are also encouraged to continue praying for Gabrielle Henry as she recovers in hospital, with the organisation keeping its focus firmly on her healing journey and the power of collective prayer.

A reminder that even in the toughest seasons, faith and unity can light the way.
