HURRICANE SEASON ENDS TODAY! 🌀 This will be the first hurricane season in 10 years (2015) without a Gulf hurricane or US hurricane landfall! There were 13 storms, 5 hurricanes and 4 major hurricanes. Interestingly, despite the slightly below normal total of storms, the season featured three Category 5 Hurricanes...only the 2nd time in recorded history with at least that many in the Atlantic.

You'll notice that many storms curved out to sea largely due to a weaker, more eastward Bermuda High in the Atlantic. If it was stronger and more west, the season could have been very different for the United States. Jamaica, however, was not so lucky.

Jamaica got the big storm this year...Hurricane . Not only was it the strongest ever recorded for the island, but it tied the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane as the most intense landfall on record in the Atlantic Basin (892 mb). To date, it's the strongest tropical system in 2025 across the entire world. Preliminary landfall wind was 185 mph, but it wouldn't surprise me if the National Hurricane Center bumps that up to all-time records and lowers pressure next year in their final report and analysis. Hurricane Hunters measured a wind gust to 252 mph just several hundred feet up when they were inside the storm. Although Melissa will be retired, it's a name that those in Jamaica will never forget as they pick up the pieces with several years of recovery ahead.

Thank you for your trust all season long. Your safety and the safety of your family will always be my top priority while providing just the facts without the hype. Every storm, every time. Enjoy the tropical off-season everyone!
