Six Held, Four Fi****ms, Ammunition and Narcotics Seized in Weekend Exercises
Six suspects were arrested and four fi****ms and quantities of ammunition and narcotics seized during ongoing weekend anti-crime exercises across several Divisions yesterday.
In the Western Division, Task Force officers with the assistance of the Canine Branch, conducted an exercise between 1:30 pm and 7:30 pm, on Saturday 16th August, 2025, during which they proceeded to Mucurapo Cemetery, where they conducted a search.
The search resulted in the discovery of a G***k pistol loaded with a magazine containing three rounds of ammunition.
The exercise was sanctioned by Snr. Supt. Williams, Supt. Gyan and spearheaded by Sgt. Dominque.
Meanwhile, in the South Western Division, one suspect was apprehended by a Warrant Officer of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force attached to the National Operations Fusion Centre, shortly after he and another suspect robbed a male victim of a quantity of jewellery at his Fyzabad home, yesterday.
The suspect was found to be in possession of a pistol loaded with a magazine containing 15 rounds of ammunition and was handed over to officers of the Fyzabad Police Station. The hunt is underway for the second suspect who managed to escape.
And in the Port of Spain Division, Task Force and Gang and Intelligence Unit officers conducted an exercise between 4 pm and 8 pm, yesterday, during which they arrested one suspect for possession of a firearm and quantity of ammunition in the Morvant district. A second suspect, a 27-year-old of Belmont, was also arrested in connection with Robbery and Shooting offences.
An exercise conducted by personnel of the Inter-Agency Task Force around 3 pm, yesterday, in the North Eastern and Port of Spain Divisions, resulted in the arrest of two suspects, ages 24 and 22, for Possession of quantities of Cannabis.
A third suspect, a 32-year-old man of Valsayn, was also held with over one kilogramme of cannabis in his possession, while searches at Farouk Drive, El Socorro, by the officers resulted in the discovery of one firearm concealed under a sheet of galvanise.
This exercise was spearheaded by ACP Hazel, Snr. Supt. Sooker, Supt. Ramsook and ASP Singh.
Investigations are ongoing into all of the above matters.
