WHAT YUH DRINKING?
BROWN SUGAR MILK TEA

WHERE: BO'S RESTAURANT, ARIMA
COST: $22

Boba tea at Bo's? Huh.
I saw the signs posted outside advertising it, and decided to give it a try. For those of you who know Arima, you would definitely be familiar with Bo's Chinese Restaurant by Rose Park.

It seems that they are upping their game with new menu items, one of which almost fits the name of the restaurant to a 'T.'

The sign advertised flavours like dragon fruit and mango teas, but when I passed, they had the Brown Sugar, which is fine, that was what I was gearing for!

So, verdict. The milk tea was nice and sweet, helped along by a swirl of chocolate sauce. The balls at the bottom were soft and squishy (BEHAVE YUHSELF) and went down good. It was a pleasant experience from start to finish, and I love that Bo's decided to shake things up with this. It's a VERY promising start!

5/5 - I can find no flaws with this. I genuinely loved this tea, which hit ALL of the right notes. If you're at Rose Park and you want to try a decently sweet milk tea, try this one. Bonus points for the little heart on the cup!

I do believe in truth… and the truth is that quality somehow increased since the last time I visited.

I made a tack back last Friday to order their latest combo for $75: 1pc with fries, sweet bun, sandwich, special sauce and their strawberry lemonade. Got some extra pickles and their hot honey for $5 extra each.

I also got their chicken nuggets but I can’t remember how much that was, my apologies.

Let’s start with the nuggets. They were extremely addicting. I popped one in my mouth for the picture shown, but by the time I got home I ate like 6-8 of them 😭 made with real juicy and well seasoned chicken, I’m craving them as I’m typing this. They’re a bit spicy though, so careful!

Now for the deal:
- I got the spiciest chicken they had and this time, I sweated. Seemed like they increased their spice level to which I am pleased. 😍
- the fries were still as good as I remembered
- the sweet bun was still great but I did some big backery: I added two of those nuggets, the hot honey, the special sauce and some pickles into that bun and Allyuh????? Just try it. Take meh chupid advice.
- I liked the chicken sandwich but .smith1 loved it more, especially with those pickles. So I gave that to her.
- the lemonade was a bit sweeter than what I remembered but it was great to counteract the spice of that chicken I ate 😩😩😩

Overall, if the rumours are true and they’re opening a second location in the west? They will be CONSISTENTLY getting my family’s coints 😭 My sisters done asking me when I getting them more THC and I can’t answer so they better organize fast! I don’t know how many Trincity runs I got in me 😭😭

When last you see such a pretty box? 😍✨🔥

Decided to check out this spot on Independence Square (between Charlotte and George Street) with Culinary Nerd. They specialize in fried chicken, pows, and bubble tea.

What interested me was the selection of sauces: pink sauce, green sauce, yellow sauces… made the box looked super captivating. 🔥 paid like $28 for a two piece and fries.

They didn’t have a lot of items from their menu cause they’re also known to sell pows. Also the cashier couldn’t explain what’s exactly the ingredients present in the sauces?

It tasted alright as well, nothing special to write home to… slightly seasoned and juicy chicken, love the crunch as well. And the fries tasted like fries. Even the sauces? It just tasted like colourful mayonnaise to me 😅

It’s great for satisfying a fried chicken craving if you’re in the vicinity. But I’ll stick to other establishments in my opinion.

I do however want to revisit to try their pows and bubble teas 😄

Have you ever visited here? 👀

Yesterday, I visited for the first time at

I was super excited to cause I’ve heard great things about them from 🙌🏾

Anyway, I entered and decided to order the steak and cheese dumplings for $50 and the Hong Kong wontons (shrimp) for also $50. The worker was a bit unfriendly but that’s usually for a Friday I guess.

Also usual is the wait time. I realized while waiting that people called in to place their orders. That was smart of them, I should’ve done that. Cause after about 30 minutes I got mine. So when you guys are going, place those orders early!

Presentation wise, they both look spectacular. For the taste, I highly preferred the Hong Kong wontons. The earthy, umami flavours from those sautéed peppers and onions really enhanced those wontons. They needed nothing dressing wise. Barely tasted shrimp but I can’t complain. I’ll give those a 9.

The dumplings were slightly disappointing on their own. It was cheesy, nothing wrong there but I didn’t really get flavour. Also I thought it was steak, but it more tasted like minced meat? Maybe they just minced their steak in the restaurant. When I added their tamarind ketchup and soy sauce however, it made it taste even better. Combined with the sweet and savory. I’d give it a 6 without the sauces and an 8 with the sauces.

Next time, I’ll try their steamed dumplings, I saw someone ordered that and it looked incredible 😍

Oh Bachannal!

So this weekend, I visited at East Gates to see what’s the hype.

Went to order and realized their combos don’t just sell the chicken and chips… it includes either sandwiches, fish or shrimp. Cool.

I decided to order their $55 combo which includes a portion of shrimp (10pcs), a piece of chicken, fries, and a drink. Unfortunately, they only had leg and wing in the spicy pieces so I opted for a leg. Also their bachannal sauce is $5 extra so in total I spent $60.

The service was a tad slow but that’s normal for a fast food outlet so I didn’t mind much.

Taste now.

I love the fries. Nicely seasoned, hot, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Paired better with garlic sauce.

The shrimp wasn’t all that though. First of all, I have a pet peeve about places that fry shrimp with the tails still on. Leave those on for cocktails, instead na 😩. Taste wise, it was a bit salty and oily, not to mention slightly rubbery? I’m not buying that again, I struggled to finish the portion. Only cause money done spent.

The chicken??? 10000/10! I didn’t care that I just got a leg, the taste of that made every cent worth spending. Packed with flavour, right amount of spice, super moist inside and crisp exterior. Not the slightest of oily. Perfection.

Will you be checking them out? I wanna revisit to try their sandwich next!
