Most CEOs are terrified of the "big glass eye" of the camera. They wait for the perfect studio, the perfect script, and the perfect teleprompter while their competitors are busy eating their lunch with "scrappy" content. If you’ve ever felt paralyzed by the "I don’t know what to say" trap, you’re not lacking ideas; you’re lacking a framework that gives you permission to be imperfect.

In this episode Juma Bannister and Ayinde Smith to bridge the gap between high-level brand strategy and the "roll up your sleeves" reality of content creation. We’re moving past the fluff and getting into the tactical order of operations that separates the commoditized businesses from the brands people actually remember.

We also break down why brand strategy must always precede ex*****on. If your content calendar is likely leaking money because you’ve built it on a foundation of sand. In a world flooded with AI-generated "vanilla" content, being busy isn't the same as being effective. If you’re posting just to "look active" without a defensible brand strategy, you aren't building a business you’re just adding to the noise.

We explore how to build a "moat" around your business that no competitor can copy, and the simple production habit that turns stiff professionals into confident creators.

Every brand wants to be where the eyeballs are. But for a CEO, the line between “cultural relevance” and “cringe-worthy” is razor-thin. When global phenomenon iShowSpeed touched down in the Caribbean, it wasn’t just a win for him (60 million+ streams;) it was a masterclass in a high-stakes marketing maneuver known as Borrowed Attention.

Beyond Vanity Metrics: Turning Customer Stories and “Followers” into Revenue Engines

Here's an excerpt:

In the latest episode of IT’S GOOD TO RELATE Juma Bannister and Ayinde Smith peel back the curtain on two of the most misunderstood assets in modern business: customer testimonials and social media communities.

If you are a CEO or a founder, you likely have a folder full of “nice” reviews and a LinkedIn following that looks impressive on paper but feels hollow on the balance sheet. This discussion is the antidote to that “hollow” feeling. It’s time to move past participation trophies and start building a brand that actually sticks.

We created this client project almost two years ago.
And then… I never shared it.
Until today.

This is a storytelling film we produced for Unit Trust Corporation around their ScaleUpTT programme, an initiative designed to help local businesses scale and grow.

The final piece was showcased at UTC’s 2024 AGM, and it marked the first time we produced the main storytelling film for the event.

What makes this project special for us at Relate isn’t just the visuals it’s the process. We handled everything end-to-end:

→ Scriptwriting
→ Location scouting
→ Coordinating entrepreneur interviews
→ Production
→ Post-production & editing

Shot over two days, across four locations, with limited time and a tight brief and still, the story landed. The creative direction was built around the AGM theme: “Empowering our future. Unlocking tomorrow’s potential.”

That’s why you’ll notice movement, progression; a visual metaphor for the entrepreneurial journey from uncertainty to clarity.

We love when we get the opportunity to create big, documentary-style brand stories.

Huge thanks to:
The UTC team for their trust
The entrepreneurs who shared their stories
The Relate team who pulled this off under serious time pressure

If you’re a brand or organisation that wants to show impact, not just talk about it, this is the kind of work we love to do.
