Hey Assemblers! 🙋♀️🙋👋
Hailing all the way from Trinidad, Bates Memorial High School students and teachers stepped straight into history on October 16-and what a journey it was! ✨
Their visit began at James Park, where they uncovered its layered past- from a former slave auction site and World War memorial to a place honoring A.P.T. James, Tobago’s trailblazer for progress. 🌿
At the Assembly’s Courtyard, students traced the cool, weathered walls of the 200-year-old Assembly Building, learning it once housed a courthouse, library, and finance offices.
Inside the Tea Room, they viewed striking before-and-after photos of the Building and James Park, before concluding in the Chamber, where they explored the vital roles of Assemblymen and the parliamentary traditions that keep The People’s House alive today. 🏛️
