The Queen’s Park Oval in St. Clair will not host CPL matches this year; Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) will play all home games at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy (BLCA) in Tarouba. Club president Dr. Nigel Camacho cited longstanding issues with limited corporate boxes and sponsorship signage at the Oval, which have affected its suitability.

Tyler Perry has denied allegations of sexual assault by actor Derek Dixon, who starred in Perry’s TV shows Ruthless and The Oval. Dixon filed a $260 million lawsuit, claiming Perry harassed, assaulted, and retaliated against him after he rejected Perry’s advances, including inappropriate texts in 2019 and an assault in 2020.

Joshua “De Pan Man” Regrello has officially received his flowers from the Guinness World Records for his 31-hour steelpan marathon on December 27-28, 2024, at WACK 90.1FM Studio. This achievement is the longest steelpan marathon globally, showcasing Trinidad and Tobago’s rich musical heritage. With over 20 years of experience, Regrello’s performance was supported by family, friends, and online participants. The Ministry of Culture and Community Development provided official witnesses to ensure Guinness standards were met. Minister Michelle Benjamin praised the feat as a victory for the nation.

Recovery The Concert has been rescheduled to June 28, 2025, at Wasa Grounds, St Joseph, maintaining the original venue and time. The event will feature additional talented artists, including Serani, Full Blown, Orlando Octave, Ding D**g, M1, and Coutain. Proceeds support Damian “Ace” Oliverie’s battle with myeloma. Organizers remain committed to the cause and invite guests for a night of hope, music, and community.

InterCaribbean Airways CEO Trevor Sadler announced the airline will begin service to Trinidad and Tobago between October and November, after delays caused by administrative processes. The airline plans to add aircraft and expand its route network this year. T&T’s Civil Aviation Authority has approved the entry, with no concerns. Currently serving destinations like Barbados, Jamaica, Cuba, and others, InterCaribbean has aimed to enter T&T since June 2022.

Director of the Ultimate Soca Champion Jerome “Rome” Precilla is looking forward to a more extensive 2026 event with a longer soca school to support artists.
The 2025 event showcased Trinidad and Tobago’s culture, with over 78,000 viewers on CNC3 and three million online. Top winners included Blaka Dan, Yung Bredda, Preedy, and Youth Soca Champion Sucre. Precilla encourages artists to participate next year to help grow T&T’s cultural influence locally and internationally.

NO VYBZ IN THE SAVANNAH!!
According to reports, the management team of international dancehall artiste, Vybz Kartel, has announced that he will not be making an appearance at the One Caribbean Music Festival in Trinidad due to the non-fulfilment of contractual obligations by the event promoter.
A statement said despite numerous efforts to resolve the issues over the past couple of months, the promoter was unable to fulfil the stipulated requirements as outlined in the performance agreement.
