That was fun!
Not the start we imagined—one of us was coming back from injury, the other showed up with a fever and ran the whole thing in full “zombie apocalypse”. Some highlights: I pulled an extra sled length for no reason, forgot to hydrate, and got lost in the Roxzone. It was chaotic, it was painful, and it was brilliant to experience it all racing side-by-side with my partner for the first time.
After years of doing triathlon, where it’s all about solo suffering, it felt special to push through something side-by-side. A very different kind of challenge. Shared effort, shared mistakes, shared laughs. It’s hard not to compare Hyrox with triathlon—or even Spartan and CrossFit. All these sports are fighting for attention now, trying to look tougher and cooler on social media.
But triathlon is a different beast. Swimming, cycling, and running demand a level of training, focus, and mental grit that’s simply on another level. Hyrox is tough too, but it’s also much more accessible—you don't need expensive gear, complicated logistics, or to worry about punctures or swim starts. You just show up with your shoes, your partner, and a bit of stubbornness.
And honestly, it’s genius. It turns the average Joe into a weekend warrior, with photographers and spectators hyping every lift and run. You can even go out and celebrate right after, no recovery boots needed.
Somehow, despite everything, we finished top 25 out of 281 teams. Not bad for one of our worst days.
We’ll definitely be back—hopefully a little less sick and injury-free.
