We are incredibly honored to have collaborated with NBC Bank to produce the official launch video for the 7th season of the NBC Dodoma Marathon.
While filming at Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI), a mother shared her family’s immense sacrifices. She and her husband had sold their cows and depleted all their resources to keep their son alive, yet still face an insurmountable 8-million-shilling barrier for his heart surgery.
As she spoke, the other women in the ward began to cry—united in the unspoken grief of parents fighting desperately for their children with nothing left to give. It was a deeply heartbreaking moment for our entire crew.
This is why this marathon is so much more than a race. This year, proceeds directly support healthcare in Tanzania Benjamin Mkapa Hospital: Bone marrow transplants JKCI: Life-saving heart surgeries Mkapa Foundation: Nursing scholarships
To everyone lacing up this year: your participation is a lifeline for families like the one we met. You are providing the outstanding service of hope.
Thank you, NBC Bank, for trusting Studio 19 to amplify these stories. Let’s run for their lives.
