“Mr West” ya Lutu Habakuki Hallai ni kazi ya kisanaa yenye uzito mkubwa wa maudhui na ustadi wa hali ya juu katika muziki wa Reggae. Wimbo huu unafuma pamoja simulizi halisi ya kijamii, maadili ya Kiafrika, na urithi wa Reggae wa kimataifa — ukiwasilishwa kwa mtindo wa kipekee unaogusa hisia, ukibeba maonyo, huzuni, na tafakuri. Hii si reggae ya burudani tu; ni Reggae ya kusikiliza kwa makini na kutafakari.

Katika mashairi yake, Lutu anaelezea maisha ya Upenda, kijana aliyesafiri kutoka Afrika hadi Ulaya kutafuta maisha bora. Lakini badala ya kuimarika kwa misingi ya asili yake, anajikuta akiyakumbatia maisha ya Magharibi kwa namna inayomfanya kupoteza utambulisho wake – akabadilisha jina kuwa “Mr West” na hata kuingia kwenye ndoa ya jinsia moja.

Mashairi ya wimbo yana ladha ya barua ya wazi kwa mhusika mkuu – yakieleza kwa sauti ya maumivu na masikitiko, huku yakifungua mjadala mpana kuhusu mwelekeo wa kizazi. Mtindo wa simulizi unaifanya kazi hii isikike k**a filamu fupi ya kusimuliwa kwa sauti – hadithi inayoanzia matumaini, kupita kwenye giza, na kuishia katika maswali makubwa kuhusu asili na utu.

“Mr West” si wimbo wa kawaida – ni ujumbe wa tahadhari, changamoto ya kiakili, na mwongozo wa kijamii kwa kizazi cha sasa. Ni kazi inayochanganya maudhui yenye mizizi ya maadili, riddim ya Reggae ya Kiafrika, na tafakari ya kina juu ya maisha ya kijana wa Afrika anayeishi chini ya kivuli cha utandawazi na mashinikizo ya utambulisho mpya.

Kwa kazi hii, Lutu Habakuki hajajitokeza k**a msanii wa kufuata mitindo ya soko – bali k**a mbunifu wa njia mpya, akitumia sauti ya Reggae ya kale kuibua maswali mapya kwa kizazi cha sasa. Ni Reggae ya kiroho na kijamii – iliyojaa busara, hisia, na dhamira.

Honoring the Life of Matondo “Mo Benda” Benda.

The global music community is deeply shaken by the untimely loss of Matondo Benda - a devoted husband, loving father of two, treasured son, and respected brother.

Known affectionately on stage as Mo Benda or Professor Mo Benda, his kind and uplifting presence resonated far beyond the music he played, leaving an enduring mark on everyone who encountered his art. Under the dynamic leadership of Ras Makunja, the Ngoma Africa Band became a trailblazer of Bongo Dansi - a powerful blend of traditional Tanzanian rhythms with Congolese soukous and rumba. Mo Benda’s guitar work pulsed at the core of this style, weaving expressive solos that brought the band’s signature dance rhythms to life. His performances didn’t just enhance the music - they sparked unforgettable moments of energy and connection with the crowd.

The announcement of his death on July 1, 2025, came as a devastating shock. His loss is felt profoundly - both within the quiet grief of his family and across the stages where his music once soared with passion and brilliance.

🎉🥳 What an UNFORGETTABLE International Reggae Day at Nafasi Artspace! 🥳🎶

The energy was electrifying as Reggae lovers from various parts of Dar Es Salaam united to celebrate the vibrant spirit of Reggae! 🌍✨ Nafasi Artspace transformed into a pulsating hub of incredible music and stunning visual art, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

🎨🎤 The highlight of the day was undeniably the captivating 'live art' performance of Bob Marley, skillfully brought to life right before our eyes by the immensely talented visual artists Malulu Vita, Fred Halla, and Director Minzi Mims! Their creativity truly soared.

The stage was ablaze with talent! 🔥 Special guest Amos Lovinz, affectionately known as 'Mr. Black', graced us with his dynamic presence and, as always, left the crowd thoroughly impressed! 🤩

But the excitement didn’t stop there! C.Wyne Nalukalala Music took the stage by storm, igniting the audience with an electrifying performance that had everyone moving! And of course, the renowned The Action Magic Band showcased their unparalleled musical prowess, confirming their status as one of the best in the game. 🎸🥁

This event was a true celebration of reggae culture, bringing together not just music lovers, but also movie actors, directors, producers, and various stakeholders from across the entertainment industry. It was a day filled with joy, creativity, and community spirit – a perfect family occasion that will surely be remembered for years to come! 🙏🏽❤️

Biography:
Jetman Dizano (real name: Samson Noha) is a veteran Tanzanian artist and producer whose work has significantly shaped the reggae, dancehall, and Raggamuffin landscape in East Africa. Originally from Mwanza, Jetman has been a powerful voice in the regional music scene for over two decades, known for his high-energy performances, commanding lyrical flow, and deep-rooted authenticity.

His breakout moment came with the 2014 hit single “My Sweet”, which earned a nomination for Best Ragga/Dancehall Song at the prestigious Kilimanjaro Music Awards. Earlier in his career, he honed his craft under Kenya’s acclaimed OgopaDJz production label, blending his raw sound with modern influences.

Jetman’s signature style fuses the rich rhythms of traditional reggae with the pulsing beats of contemporary dancehall, creating music that resonates with fans across generations. As both an artist and producer, his creative reach extends far beyond the stage—he is the founder and lead engineer of a self-built studio in Mwanza’s Pasiansi area, where he collaborates with upcoming talent and crafts new music for the East African market.
