Tanzania’s financial inclusion agenda continued to gather momentum in 2025, supported by expanding digital finance services, growing savings mobilisation and stronger consumer protection measures, according to the latest Financial Stability Report 2025 issued by the Bank of Tanzania (BoT).

The report shows that Tanzania’s Financial Inclusion Index (Tan-Fix) remained stable at 0.7 in 2025, indicating sustained progress in improving access, usage and quality of financial services across the economy.

The central bank said implementation of the National Financial Inclusion Framework III accelerated during the year, with special focus placed on underserved groups including women, youth, farmers, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and persons with disabilities.

One of the clearest signs of progress was the sharp increase in financial access points nationwide. Total access points rose to 2.27 million in December 2025 from 1.69 million recorded in December 2024.

THE Tanzania Parliamentary standing Committee on Energy and Minerals has urged the government to continue creating a favorable investment environment in the country, citing investment in the gas sector as an example of successful cooperation between the private sector and the government in boosting the economy and creating jobs for Tanzanians.

Speaking recently in Dar es Salaam, the committee’s Chairperson, Subira Mgalu (pictured), said the investments made in the gas sector demonstrate the government’s strong commitment to promoting investment in the country.

Mgalu, who is also the Member of Parliament for Bagamoyo, further explained that the committee recognizes the contribution and investment made by Oryx Energies, which over the past four years has contributed tax revenue amounting to 1.2trn/- while also creating 1,000 direct jobs, the majority of which have been filled by young Tanzanians.

“I highly commend the government for continuing to create a good investment environment. The gas sector has made a significant contribution in enabling Tanzanians to secure employment, while also playing a major role in bringing development and growing Tanzania’s economy.”
