A creative space for local and international musicians to in a unique familiar atmosphere on the beautiful island of Zanzibar Stone Town Records is a grassroots, locally run, music studio and label located in an intimate historic building in the narrow streets of Stone Town. A lively community of artists living and breathing on our rooftop terrace, playing the oud, quanun, violin and other tradit
ional taarab instruments, singing and rapping whilst fusing their cultural roots with the countless influences they are exposed to living on the beautiful island Zanzibar. The vision of our Stone Town Records community is to empower the Zanzibari music scene and their musicians by working closely with industry professionals from all around the world, learning and gathering knowledge, and then channelling it back to the local scene. We support local artists to brand themselves and make their music more known around the country and the rest of the world. As a studio and label we offer quality production and recording facilities, event organisation, video and photo shootings as well as a creative hub where we regularly hold workshops and exchange ideas with fellow participants and musicians.
