Komodo National Park: Indonesia
Composed of three major islands and several smaller ones, this national park is home to a few thousand giant lizards known as Komodo dragons – in fact, it's the only place in the world where you can see them in the wild. Beyond the unique wildlife, Komodo National Park is notable for its exceptional natural beauty across the savanna, lush vegetation, white sand beaches and coral reefs. The primary way to visit this UNESCO-protected destination is by cruise, but it's vital that you choose an ethical operator (a small ship is best for minimizing your environmental impact) and do not disturb the wildlife. If you plan to snorkel, reef-safe sunscreen is a must.
