The metaverse hype is real, but Microsoft's President recently downplayed the hype and issued a reminder that people will continue to live in the real world. The likes of Mark Zuckerberg have hyped up the metaverse as the next generation of the internet, one that will be more immersive and will include experiences ranging from gaming and social media to its very own digital economy.

That aggressive pitch happens to be a dream that is still far away, and there are a ton of hurdles — both material and regulatory — before the public will feel confident in entering a metaverse. However, that hasn’t dissuaded deep-pocket brands from building their own experiences. Facebook is betting big on Horizon, NVIDIA is dreaming up an Omniverse, while Roblox and Fortnite are already wannabe metaverses. Of course, Microsoft is not sitting idly by either.

Ford just took the automotive world by storm with its new F-100 Eluminator concept truck — showcasing the power of modern electric vehicles in a classic body. The world of electric cars has been moving at an incredible pace in recent years. Whether it be vehicles from Tesla, Rivian, Chevy, Subaru, or others, more electric cars are now on the market and in production than ever before. It'll still be a few years before electric takes over as the new standard over gas, but we're rapidly inching closer and closer to that future.

One of the many automotive brands helping make this electric future a reality is Ford. The company's flagship offering right now is the 2022 Mustang Mach-E. It's a performance-focused car with fast 0-60 speeds, decent range, and a fairly reasonable $42,895 starting price. Even more exciting for some folks is the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning. It's Ford's first all-electric F-series truck and has virtually everything you could ask for. There's up to 300 miles of range, up to 10,000 lbs of towing, and even a built-in generator to power your home during a power outage — all packed into a body that looks like any other F-150 on the road today.

The Metaverse Is Coming But It Might Not Be Exclusive To Meta
When Facebook announced its name change to Meta, it also indicated its primary focus would be building the Metaverse. However, virtual worlds already exist, and some industry experts think Meta might not be the only place to visit a Metaverse. The ability to go anywhere in linked worlds that share some general cohesiveness in terms of rules and structure will be challenging but ultimately might be what is needed to unify into a single entity, somewhat like what the internet provides.

The idea of a Metaverse began long before Google, Oculus, Facebook, Sony, and HTC showed interest in virtual reality. The term Metaverse appeared in a science fiction novel called Snow Crash in 1992, where a shared virtual world hosts humans that are represented by virtual avatars. The concept of a shared cyberspace emerged in the early 1980s with the birth of the popular cyberpunk genre. While Metaverse has most recently been associated with the company renamed as Meta, the idea existed earlier, and the technology to create it has been explored by many different companies.

It is worth noting that even after a follower is removed, they will still be able to interact with the remover if the latter's account is set to 'Public.' However, the removal will ensure that the latter's content will not show up in the former's feed anymore. Whether or not the removed follower will be able to see the remover's posts or Instagram Stories will depend on the latter's privacy settings.

For public accounts, removed followers will still be able to see everything and even send DMs to the remover. They will also be able to re-follow that account unless they are blocked for good. For private accounts, removed followers will not be able to interact with that user or see their content anymore. They may request to re-follow, but that request has to be accepted first before becoming a follower again.

Instagram offers multiple ways to reduce interactions with annoying and unwanted people on the platform. Users can remove, restrict, or block disruptive followers on Instagram, with each method having its own pros and cons. While restricting a follower helps users hide those people's comments, likes and direct messages without letting them know anything is amiss, blocking prevents them from interacting with the account entirely, including commenting, liking or direct messaging.

Users can also remove followers to reduce their interaction with irritating people on Instagram. When a follower is removed, that person isn’t notified of their removal. The only way they'd know is if the remover's account was set to 'Private,' in which case the removed user would no longer be able to see the remover's posts, etc. Also, when someone is removed as a follower, their previous likes and comments will remain on the remover's posts.
