I'm skeptical about claim that this album can be soothing. Yes, these guys are absolutely experimental. They mixed everything that could be mixed. Different metal styles with ethnic motives. Lovely vocal roar. But if you're suddenly going to relax under the next smooth flow of music, you will definitely be pulled out of this state by aggressive surge. Alarm clock effect in the morning. What the hell was that?)) "An tSláine" song would be perfect as a soundtrack for a movie 🎥🦇

HELHEIM RETURN TO THEIR ROOTS WITH UPCOMING ALBUM. SINGLE AND VIDEO REVEALED

Known the world-over for their authenticity and integrity when it comes to portraying their Norse heritage, Norway's HELHEIM will be back this Autumn with their eleventh full-length album “WoduridaR”, which promises a return to the roots that the band forged almost 30 years ago.

As a follow up to 2017's “LandawarijaR” and 2019's “Rignir”, “WoduridaR” fuses the aggression of the former with the focus on the atmosphere and melodies and the use of clean vocals of the latter, something that the band found exciting, and are interested in developing further. For good measure, the judicious use of elements from all of HELHEIM's releases has produced an album that sums up their legendary career.

“WoduridaR” is an Old Norse word, which can be translated as “The Wild Rider”, and lines can be drawn directly between the album's title to Odin's many names and meanings. It is not, however, a concept album, with the tracks being independent from each other, and each one free to tell its own story .

As a taster of what fans can expect from “WoduridaR” Dark Essence Records have released the title track from the album as a single, and it can be streamed or downloaded from a number of services at:

Commenting on “WoduridaR”, HELHEIM had this to say:

With "WoduridaR" we have returned to the harshness and the paradigms of "LandawarijaR", with explosive, mid-paced melodies that have an emotive refrain which summons the northern flames. Helheim never falters, Helheim never surrenders.

Cannibal Co**se Well-well-well...Did you manage to tickle your nerves with the blade of a bloody and slightly dull knife? Ohh my...Cannibal Co**se one of those bands that I always come back to. From Gallery of Su***de til now.
And almost every time the album starts with a frightening story. Then the band breaks down (in a good sense of the word) and begins to play very lively, youthfully and cheerfully :) Well, there is no depressing feeling after listening the album. Yes, you're standing in dirty boots, the sleeve of your jacket is torn after a chase in the forest and there are traces of blood on you. It's not clear only whose blood this is, because adrenaline has flooded you. But you feel very good.

I feel like a sommelier when I listen to a new album for the first time. When new sounds reveal the essence of the album. "RS-28" made me drunk. Literally. Light euphoria. The album is rich in content. Uncompromising and harshness of death metal, black and folk motives. And the aftertaste of the Behemoth legacy that slipped through my mind from time to time. I managed to find an hour of free time and I spent listening "Coldgrinder", "Evilution", "RS-28" again and again. Thank you, Sarmat.

I'd love to hear them live at Metal East Нове Коло 😉

DARK ESSENCE RECORDS SET TO RELEASE CD VERSION OF TAAKE TRACKS FROM RECENT 10" SPLIT SERIES

Over the past months, Norwegian Black Metal icons TAAKE have released a series of 10" splits with three different bands (WHOREDOM RIFE, DEATHCULT and HELHEIM), on three different labels, and, as always happens in the case of vinyl releases, fans have been asking for a CD version.

And Dark Essence Records are happy, as always, to oblige. So, on the 2nd July, they will be releasing a limited edition Digipak CD, along with a Digital version, of the six TAAKE tracks from the series, which will include a very special acoustic version of “Nattestid ser Porten vid I”, acknowledged by Black Metal fans the world-over as not only a classic TAAKE track, but a classic of the whole genre itself.

The release is titled "Avvik", which translated means "anomaly" or "deviation", which makes it a very appropriate title given that the tracks from the splits would never really fit into any of TAAKE's own releases. You could, of course, also argue that TAAKE mastermind Hoest has always ploughed a very individual furrow with his Helnorsk Svartmetall sound, standing outside the mainstream of Black Metal, and therefore making the choice of title doubly apt.

All the tracks of "Avvik" have been recorded and re-mixed by VULTURE INDUSTRIES' Bjørnar E. Nilsen, and re-mastered for digital release by Herbrand Larsen at their Conclave & Earshot Studio in Bergen. Some of the re-mixes have some very surprising guests, who do not appear on the originals and are exclusive to this release. These include Dr Mikannibal of SIGH who did TAAKE the honour of adding her saxophone to a slightly longer version of the Sisters of Mercy cover “Heartland”. Whilst TAAKE's live guitarist (and banjo legend) Gjermund created the acoustic version “Nattestid ser Porten vid I”.

As a last entry into our member introduction we are happy to announce our new drummer. Please welcome Darn.
Darn has been a friend of the members since childhood and also participated in Thyruz's first music video.
Darn started playing drums in the early nineties and Ravnsvartr was playing alongside him in one of the first bands that he was part of and also sessions with just the two of them playing coversongs.
He went on further to play in different bands before they again joined forces as Alsvartr.
Alongside that he has played in bands like Hellish orcestra, Nebular mystic and Dødheimsgard (Dhg).
In 2017 he started Varde with former Nordjevel guitarist Nord and former Alsvartr vocalist Koll.
This might bring Thyruz in a direction towards making faster songs alongside more melodic ones and
we are truly happy he is now part of the band.
