Ukraine and France have agreed to expand their defense cooperation, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced following talks with Emmanuel Macron.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine will receive licenses to produce SCALP missiles and AASM guided bombs, as well as Aster 30 missiles in cooperation with Italy. France will also join the FREYJA anti-ballistic missile program.

In addition, Ukraine will become the first country to receive the new Franco-Italian SAMP/T NG air defense systems. France is also expected to deliver two SAMP/T systems to Ukraine this year, while deliveries of Aster 30 missiles are set to be accelerated by October.

The agreements also include the purchase of the first 16 Rafale fighter jets and weapons for them. Training for Ukrainian pilots and mechanics in France is expected to begin this year, after which the first four Rafale jets will be delivered to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Influential Republican U.S. Senator from South Carolina and staunch supporter of Ukraine Lindsey Graham died on the evening of July 11 at the age of 71, according to his office.

The senator reportedly died after a “brief and sudden illness.” His family thanked everyone for their support and prayers and asked for privacy during this difficult time.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reacted to Graham’s death, calling him a “true defender of freedom.”

According to Zelensky, the senator visited Ukraine ten times since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion and stood with the Ukrainian people during some of the most difficult moments. Zelensky said he had maintained a constant dialogue with Graham and that they had met twice in the past week alone.

“America and the world have lost a determined leader,” Zelensky wrote, expressing condolences to the senator’s family, loved ones, and colleagues.
