In folk medicine, the small centaury is used much more widely than in traditional medicine. For therapeutic purposes, the ground part of the plant is used, from which infusions are mainly made and used to stimulate appetite, in the treatment of gastric catarrh, heartburn, constipation, flatulence, and to improve the peristalsis of the digestive organs.
