We're back!
For the next issue of Apofenie, we are interested in writing that approaches absence as more than a subject. What happens when absence becomes a form? What does a text look like when it is organized around a silence, a gap, a disappearance, an omission, an unanswered question? Can something be present precisely because it is missing?
We invite work concerned with the spaces between presence and disappearance: grief, longing, estrangement, displacement, silence, erasure, memory, ghosts, abandoned places, missing bodies, lost languages, unrealized futures, vanished worlds, and things that were never there to begin with.
We are equally interested in the absences produced by language itself: what cannot be translated, what cannot be said, what remains outside the frame of a photograph or narrative, what a story deliberately withholds, and what a reader is forced to imagine in the gap.
