Medieval black metal horde Ruїn emerges from the ever-fertile Ukrainian black metal scene. Following the Carpathians EP (2024) and several standalone singles, the band unleashed their debut full-length Return of the Dark Age digitally this June.

Now the time has come to announce the CD edition. Pre-orders are officially open, with the album set for release on September 22 in a 6-panel digipak format.

Steeped in the spirit of old-school Norwegian black metal, Return of the Dark Age combines medieval atmosphere, raw aggression, and memorable riffs into a triumphant journey through darkness and history.

The second CD arriving on September 19 is the debut album by Canadian one-man black metal project Morbid Darkstar . Originally released digitally this spring, it immediately caught our attention thanks to a recommendation from Denys Marchenko.

Rooted in the spirit of 1990s second-wave black metal, Morbid Darkstar honors the genre’s raw essence while boldly embracing avant-garde experimentation. The result is a sound that is both reverent and forward-looking - cold, futuristic, and immersive, drawing the listener into a vast realm of cosmic desolation.

Fans of atmospheric, experimental, and progressive black metal should not miss this one.

Our first offering today comes from our longest-standing artist, Ars Moriendi, with the magnificent new album Ces solitudes qui nous consument.

Today we open pre-orders for the album and unveil its first track, the haunting opener “La complainte de la recluse.” Inspired by the tragic fate of women who, during the Middle Ages and the early modern period, chose to spend the rest of their lives enclosed in tiny cells, the song sets the tone for one of Ars Moriendi’s most evocative and emotionally powerful works to date.

The album will be released on September 15.

Bandcamp Fridays return tomorrow, August 7!

We’ll be unveiling an (un)holy trinity of Black Metal CD releases arriving this September.

The Grey Havens CDs are already on their way to us, while the Eternal Solstice CDs will be ready in late August.

Due to a label reorganization (more on that soon), all vinyl pre-orders have been postponed until autumn. We’ll announce the exact dates as soon as everything is finalized.

Today Archaic Sound turns 16.

No celebration this time. We spent almost all of July fighting COVID and German bureaucracy, so we’ve been unusually quiet on social media.

But we’re getting back on track, and here’s the first great news: after a long delay caused by technical issues at the factory, The Fall of Gondolin DigiCD will finally be available in early August.
