Bilateral military ties between Beijing and Moscow are deepening, with hundreds of troops participating in mutual training programs at each other's military institutions.

According to Ukraine’s Military Intelligence (HUR), a "consistent" practice of mutual internships has developed between the Russian Armed Forces and China's People’s Liberation Army (PLA). HUR reports that more than 550 Chinese soldiers have undergone training at higher military institutions in Russia.

Conversely, over 180 Russian troops, including instructor and pedagogical staff, completed similar programs at Chinese infantry, aviation, and air defense academies.

North Korea has emerged as one of Russia’s most critical foreign military suppliers, covering up to 40% of Moscow’s total artillery ammunition needs.

According to a document obtained by Kyiv Post from Ukraine’s Military Intelligence (HUR), military cooperation between Pyongyang and Moscow has become deeply systemic.

Since 2023, North Korea has supplied Russia with over 7 million rounds of ammunition, more than 600 artillery systems, and over 100 KN-23 and KN-24 ballistic missiles.

While North Korea's defense industry continues to ramp up shell production for Russia, intelligence indicates no current use of high-tech North Korean components in Russian drones or missiles.
