Five orphaned puppies rescued by Ukrainian soldiers in Kharkiv region near the front line are now looking for a family.

Servicemen of Ukraine’s 13th National Guard Brigade “Khartiia” found the puppies after their mother disappeared, leaving them alone in a combat zone. The soldiers carried the animals to safety in their assault backpacks, evacuating them from an area under constant threat from Russian drones. According to the brigade, the puppies traveled nearly 15 kilometers before reaching a safer location.

The puppies now live alongside the troops, who feed and care for them while continuing their military missions.

The soldiers hope their temporary companions will soon find loving homes away from the war.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said he is ready to begin direct negotiations with Vladimir Putin immediately rather than wait for the United States to resolve other global conflicts first.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine is no longer Washington’s top foreign policy priority, with Iran currently taking center stage. He argued that Kyiv and Moscow themselves must ultimately build both a ceasefire and a peace plan.

French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed Zelensky’s outreach, calling the open letter to Putin a “good initiative,” as reported by European Pravda. Macron reiterated his support for direct talks between Ukraine and Russia and said Europe, as Ukraine’s largest military backer, should also have a seat at the negotiating table.
