Браян П’ю — директор Bard High School Early College Manhattan, педагог із багаторічним досвідом роботи вчителем, який досліджує відновне правосуддя та рівність в освіті.
Браян розповів, як працює відновне правосуддя — підхід, що фокусується не на покаранні, а на розумінні причин конфлікту й відновленні стосунків. Учні розбирали реальні кейси підлітків, аналізуючи, чому люди чинять погано і як спільнота може реагувати так, щоб дійсно щось змінити. Це важлива навичка — бачити за конфліктом людину, а не лише «проступок».
Практичну частину провели через вправу «human belt» — учасники по колу передавали один одному предмети, зберігаючи зосередженість і координацію всієї групи. Це вчило довіряти одне одному й діяти узгоджено.

Team-Building with Brian Pew: Leadership Through Restorative Justice
Brian Pew is the Principal of Bard High School Early College Manhattan, an educator with years of experience as a teacher, who researches restorative justice and equity in education.
Brian explained how restorative justice works — an approach that focuses not on punishment, but on understanding the root causes of conflict and restoring relationships. Students examined real-life teen case studies, exploring why people do wrong and how a community can respond in ways that actually create change. This is an important skill — seeing the person behind the conflict, not just the “wrongdoing.”
The hands-on part of the workshop was a “human belt” exercise — participants passed objects to one another around a circle, maintaining focus and coordination as a group. It taught them to trust one another and act in sync.
True teamwork doesn’t start with finding someone to blame — it starts with the willingness to understand another person ❤️
